Are you living in the past? Do you live your life longing for the time you've lost, fixated on a certain person or memory you can never get back? Understanding and coming to terms with your past is the key to learning, growth, and gratitude. But dwelling too much on the painful memories will only hold us back in life. With that said, here are 7 signs that can help you realize if you’re still living in the past.

Your past traumas and memories constantly keep you reminding about your past only to warn and make you aware. They are not your enemies. Understand them and you can use them to make better decisions in the future

“No matter how much time has passed you can’t help but ask if things would’ve been better if you chose differently.” I swear these videos call me out too much sometimes.

To be fair, living in the past is more appealing than ever in these times.

We're all living in the past because of the future.

Should I live in the present? This present? I don't want to.

*5 - You reject new opportunities:* They're never really offered to me, so this one doesn't really apply.

When I was younger, I was so cute and innocent. Basically perfect. Everyone used to talk good about me.

Now I keep blaming myself for everything, don’t talk to people at all, and keep on trying to fix a friendship that obviously will never work. I also look not as good.

Covid-19 has really made me depressed. Every night I can’t stop reliving the good times when everything was normal. I think about it so much. It’s probably so unhealthy..

✨ When we live in the past it’s like we don’t trust there are possibilities for the future that could be better. Having the mindset of focusing on the here and now is not only much healthier, but ultimately makes you a lot happier. The future can be as great as you allow it to be, and being in the moment actually allows you to enjoy life instead of wasting time ruminating over things that are no longer part of our life. We can cherish those memories if they are happy, but still learn to be truly present. If they haunt us, it’s less painful to move on anyway ♥️

That one argument five years ago I still construct the best come back phrase I should've said.
