Ford F-150 Transmission Pan Upgrade!

***UPDATED INFORMATION: Ford recommends checking the transmission fluid while the engine is running and the transmission fluid is at least warm, if not hot. So after filling your transmission pan with fluid, start your engine and let it run for about 10 minutes. Then add fluid if needed. Also, make sure you shift through the gears while your foot is firmly pressed on the brake pedal to allow the fluid to flow through the whole transmission.

I'm curious if this is a necessary step with these transmissions, so I'll be skipping that part of the filling procedure and will report back on this channel with any issues. But, I DO NOT suggest any of you do that. I advise you all to follow Ford's recommendation.

I put a B&M Racing drain plug on the back sloop of the pyramid as it sticks out more then I like. Doorman and others also make a drain plug also. I even put one on my differential cover, works great.

Have you had any issues with the drain bolt leaking? I've read some reviews and drain bolt leaking was an issue along with a tight fit causing a potential issue with the drain bolt and filter spacing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Was it the the same size or more shallow compared to oem

Why not drill a hole in the drain pan to drain the tranny fluid ?
Since you are replacing the drain pan with a new one ( with a drain plug ), there should be no issues drilling a hole in the old drain pan to drain the fluid. A lot less messy draining the fluid this way.
