I bought a used 2017 ford raptor with 10 speed transmission and had the same problem. Ford dealership said I needed a new transmission. I asked them to turn adaptive learning off and they claimed it wouldn’t work and that they couldn’t do it. So I literally had to beg them to reset the adaptive learning. After a half hour of pleading with them they did it and it shifts perfect now. If I hadn’t seen this video I would have spent thousands of dollars on a new transmission. Thanks for sharing sir. I still wish they could have turned it off completely.

I realize that this is 2yo, but need to comment for ALL...thank you my man for posting this for us!! I just went to the shop and had the guys do this for me in my 2019 f150 ecoboost. All of about half of one second. Ok, maybe 2-3 seconds chatting with the guy. God Bless!

I have a 2018 ford F-150 5.0 with the 10 speed transmission and I drive in all kinds of environments and traffic situations, so every few months I download the latest software if there is any via bluetooth and go into advanced settings and reset the adaptive learning for the transmission. It pays to read your owners manual. I never have any issues with my truck because I read the manual. Go figure!

This was my exact experience as well on my 2017 f150 3.5 10speed. First transmission went out at 80k. Ford replaced under warranty with a new one. Same jerky shifts. I went in with forscan and turned off adaptive shift. Runs flawlessly now.

My good man, lemme tell ya, I just bought a used 2018 f150 lariat, and the bogging or ruff shifting it’s like the gears ⚙️ are grinding 4-5-6-7 gears. I only own the car 3 or 4 days. What your saying is exactly how I feel. I’m 54 years old with truck experience, I’m so glad you made the video. I started thing wait I’m gonna need a transmission I only own the car few days. Thought of getting the extended warranty for thousands because of this. Wow. What the heck, , , We are Not Crazy right!!! Happy Holidays ☘️🍀 🍻

My 2018 5.0 skipped gears from day one and has 34k miles. I started selecting Tow/Haul for the first 5 miles along with pushing the auto restart button. After 5 miles I put the transmission in standard mode. It has never acted funny.
If your 5.0 has an oil consumption problem or you think it does; change to 5-30 oil from 5-20, it fixed my problem. I have always used Motorcraft Semisynthetic.

Thanks, Ernest! I am up by Lake Brownwood. Looking at a 10 speed right now and had a little hesitation so this is good news.

I have a 2019 F150 10 speed and had hard shifting from 3 to 4. I had adaptive learning turned off for $60 and my truck shifts so much smoother. Definitely recommend doing this if you are experiencing hard shifting! Thanks for the video!!

Dude thanks!Got a 20/20 Ranger with this 10 speed acting all wonky before & after having a rebuild on the transmission. The damn thing is acting like it's "overthinking" shifting between gears!Calling the dealership tommorow.

5:00 old post and not sure about a 2018, but on a 2022 F150, you can reset adaptive learning tables OR disable it completely in Forscan yourself without a trip to the dealer.

Thanks for your input. Bought a new F-150 and I am not liking how the transmission shits, now I can tell them a fix.

Thank you for the great video and info! This really helped me a lot. I am more determined now than ever that my new F150 is going to be a pre-owned 2017 XLT or Lariat 4WD with the 5.0L V8 with the old-school 6-speed transmission. For the difference in what I will pay compared to a new F150 with the 10-speed, I can afford to put a few thousand (if necessary) into returning it (bumper to bumper) to nearly like-new bullet-proof condition.
