I've been experiencing pain in my lower right knee when doing squats with elevated heels and lunges (where the right knee bends). it also makes a cracking sound when I bend it suddenly.. I've never injured it, but now i've also noticed the pain when doing extensions

I thank you muchly, I'm early 60's, on disability for disk problems and injured my knee somehow(I do light carpentry when I can) so am hoping these exercises will help strengthen my knees...
