The new vs classic Outlook

Microsoft 365 subscribers now have the option to switch to the new Outlook, but before this becomes mandatory in late 2024, users can try it out. Here I compare dozens of features including new aspects to the New Outlook such as: Reminders for missed emails, pin, snooze, sweep, easier calendar layout, faster search, what is missing, such as: Tasks, view options, resend the message, and what was better in the classic version: Attachments, quick parts, what is announced to be coming soon: Search folders, offline mode. I don't go through what is available in both and since Outlook has hundreds of features this is not an exhaustive list that I present here.

So far the lack of support for PST files is absolutely insane. There are thousands if not millions of PST files out there. Lack of support for a pst is bonkers. The comments on attachments is also totally crazy. What the heck was MS thinking on what they've left out. I'd consider those critical.

Hi David, excellent video. I was wondering if you can make this video again but with latest updates. I think the new version of Outlook is more prevalant now so it will be useful.

Thanks for the video! Question, are you have any issues with the signature functionality in the new Outlook? I work for a large org and employees need to be able to copy and paste our branded sig into their Outlook settings. The format isn't holding, and the logo isn't showing up. Copy and paste worked fine in the old version. Any easy workarounds? Thanks for your input!

Thanx for the video. There's two things at present that will stop me using this over the classic Outlook. 1. I need to be able to edit the subject line on incoming emails. 2. I need to be able to edit an incoming email . i.e change the incoming text to HTML format rather than plain test before I file them away.

Thank you for this video. I don't like the update because all my settings are gone. I can't set up my signature the way I had and there is a account limitation. Thank you microsoft for the 'update' -.-

Thanks for a great video David. Hopefully MS will eventually add enough features to the new version to cover its inadequacies. In the meantime it looks like sticking with Outlook 365 old version is safer.

The feature that had excited me was compatibility with Google calendar which has long been a bizarre gap with Outlook. I guess in the meantime I can use the new Windows Outlook for that one account. But what's confusing me is whether this is the same thing or has any differences from New Outlook? If so, does that mean everyone has two versions of Outlook.

You may not have tested this, but will the New Outlook work with existing add-ons, like Dymo address printing? Losing that would stop migration for ever for me!

Finally, is this only available to Windows Insiders? I don't have the switch to New on my version of Outlook. I'm UK based if that's at all relevant.

I find the new email signature a horrible option.... The options in the old version are far beter.

Help. I just bought 2021 Microsoft Office Home and Business for Mac. Do new versus classic considerations even apply to me?

I was recently able to BUY MS Office 2021, which has an Outlook module in it. I am a Veteran and was able to buy a "lifetime license" to this s/w bundle as a One-Time Cost, including another copy for my wife, at a discount. That was through GOVX. It also enables me to NOT have to renew my "Annual Forever" COST of MS 365, and get rid of that. I'm assuming that this Outlook 2024 program would cause me NOT to have to use the Outlook module in my new Office 2021 bundle. Personally I'm just not a big fan of Microsoft at all!

No turn on/off New Outlook in my Outlook.
New Outlook just installed itself via Win updates as a separate app.
The installation of New Outlook damaged my signatures in Outlook and damaged the options for Outlook signatures.
The installation of New Outlook damaged the *.msg files association.
Due to the dozens of issues reported for this "New Outlook, " I will probably wait for the "New Outlook 2.0 final wail version".

Thanks, MS a lot (not!).

Does the new outlook get into the web/online version or is it the local version or runs as local app or software on the PC like the old Outlook?

The New Outlook incoming emails are not always allowing or auto-downloading the email message, i.e. no message preview. Ive noted this numerous times to MS, to no avail.

How can you change the location of the folders smoothly ? Drag and drop worked in the old one, but not in this new one. Really annoying

Hi
I do not work (retired), the main feature I use in Classic outlook is the Calendar for all my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly appointments (I cannot function without my calendar – So teams, emails etc. are not important. But I use emails sometimes as well as Gmail.
I did switch to the new outlook, but I did not like it – so many features of the calendar are missing. I switched back to the classic outlook.
My question is when I am forced to use the new outlook, are all my appointments / reminders will transfer over, also the customized quick access bar exists??
Currently my outlook (MS office 365) is linked to iCloud for windows, So I have access to my calendar on my iPhone, my laptop and Desktop which helps me to add or update any appointment in any of the 3 that I use at home or if I am out and add new appointment on my iPhone – would this feature will exist ?

I am finding a really hard time printing out of the new Outlook. It defaults to a light gray fault and no matter what I change my settings to on my printer, it doesn't update. If I write an email OUT then it prints in black but anything IN is gray.

Then it no longer prints page numbers which is challenging as I usually print a few email chains at once and have to go and peck through them now.

Any suggestions?
