Try The New Outlook

Should you Try The New Outlook? Watch this video to learn whether the New Outlook is for you?!

When I opened my Outlook, I got a toggle switch at the top right corner saying "Try the New Outlook".

Please note: It says "Try the preview". It means it's still under development! It all sound like a simple change, ie with a switch of a toggle switch. But, is it?

However, the new Outlook has its own problems.
Problem no. 1: You'd have to Sign in into all your Email accounts one by one by entering your Email ID, Password and 2 step verification (if you've set up one).

If initially, that is before opening the new Outlook, didn't sign in into all of your accounts, don't worry, you could select the email id again and sign in later.

Summary: The transition to the new Outlook isn't as simple as you'd expect! It certainly looks simpler. It has also got the shortcuts to all the common Microsoft Apps. Plus, a few new features that's not available in the old Outlook.

Problem no. 2: Lots of buttons & tabs (functions) are missing!
Old Outlook tabs Vs New Outlook tabs, you could still under each tab, the Old Outlook has got much more functions than the new Outlook!

Problem no. 3: Ads starting to appear in the "Inbox" as the first email!

Conclusion: At this moment in time, there are more problems with the New Outlook than benefits.

Luckily, switching back to the Old Outlook was still possible.

IMPORTANTLY: I was automatically logged in to all my accounts in my Old Outlook as if I never left it.

Since switching between Old Outlook and New Outlook is still possible, you could try the new Outlook for yourself and if you didn't like it, switch back. However, I am not sure for how long it'll still give the option to switch back to the Old Outlook!

IMPORTANT: At this moment in time, the New Outlook only supports Outlook (Microsoft accounts) and Gmail Accounts. So, if you got other accounts such as Yahoo, iCloud, etc. you'd need to wait! I'll update any new information or changes in the description of this video.

pretty much the same case as with windows 11, except that there's no switch to move back to windows 10 unless you do a clean install.

I like that you can customize the look. I don't like that it makes me sign in numerus times a day. also the folders I have created are no longer there. I switched back after a day of trying to use it and looking for fixes online.

I had Microsoft Mail Box on Windows 10, however that is changing over permanently to New Outlook. I changed mine over yesterday... not a good move as far as I am concerned. I find New Outlook far more cumbersome and overloaded and not nearly as direct as my old Mail box. It lacks the one synchronised Inbox that Microsoft Mail contained which kept all my accounts e-mails (3) in one place, that I really liked. It has numerous files etc., that I will never use and I dont really know their purpose. And although it has a "customise " category, this to is hardly straightforward. Plus the toggle back to your original Mail Box (even if it actually put back all the original features) will only suspend the inevitable for a short

Just now my outlook got updated and I miss many of old features, and some of the features that were existing in already new version. Very frustrating, no categorising for emails, no formating the look of the emails, so annoying.

Thanks for review - I'll be giving it a miss. A lot of time is learnt learning new software, too much time is lost learning new features that do exactly the same as before.

I am enjoying it but I have two major issues which I find annoying. My read email automatically goes unread, even after I have ready, replied and actioned. secondly, not getting desktop notifications at all, they are on on the app and on my pc but when I get a new email, I get nothing Unless i go into the emails.

I simply use Microsoft Mail and Calendar so I can have my Gmail email account linked to it. It was forcing me to switch to the new Outlook. I finally uninstalled it and that stopped. However, every time I open Mail, I still have that "Try the new Outlook" toggle button in the upper right corner. How can I easily remove or disable that?

I'm still using the 'old' Outlook with a yahoo address. And even that is nothing like as good as Outlook 2016 which I had at work until I retired! The 'new' Outlook is terrible, and I just gave up trying to kid myself I'd get used to it.
