I used it for 2 weeks, it is the worst upgrade done. Lot of things don't work. Very difficult to find out why things are not working. I switched back. It consumes lot of time. Waste of time. Don't switch

besides these five reasons there are hundreds of other reasons to avoid switching to the new Outlook for as long as possible.

New Outlook is a massive degradation of function and features. Being able to pin and snooze is nice, but scheduling has always been available, as has "my day"-type features. (Snooze has also been available for decades using simple third-party add-ons.)

Power users will be frustrated by New Outlook's lack of important features and functions that proper Outlook had evolved with over decades. Obviously, Microsoft has determined that features and functions aren't necessary to retain users, so they've intentionally degraded Outlook, knowing that it's a huge step backward for power users.

It's surprising that Andy would suggest we switch when surely he too must be frustrated by the loss of so much function in New Outlook.

The new UI is a huge improvement, but after testing New Outlook for a few days, I realised that it's missing WAY too many features that the original ugly looking Outlook has. In the new Outlook I have none of the integrations with third party tools that I have with my old Outlook. In addition, the integration between OneNote and New Outlook is virtually non-existant. There is no way to send an email into OneNote in New Outlook, something that is essential to my working day. Also: You cannot save emails as neither .eml nor .msg to disc. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I know that New Outlook is simply just web outlook in a container running as a PWA, but Microsoft really shouldn't offer a NEW version, that doesn't contain all the functionality that you are used to from the old version. So no, I won't switch to new Outlook. All the missing features of New Teams were enough of a frustration.

Oh no, got to disagree here Andy. The instability and lack of features is a big no. Kindly do a 'five reasons not to toggle', maybe 20😅.

The new outlook app per se looks slick but lacks some simple features like copy pasting attachments from one mail to another. Besides all the features except snooze is available in old outlook as well

Why can't I drag and drop docs? Isn't that a basic feature?

The reason I havent switced yet is the following:

I usually collapse my emails in my inbox:

Today
This Week
Last Week
Etc.
Older

I can mark these groups and quickly delete ALL the e-mail in the following groups.

You can do that in the older outlook.

Normally Microsoft applications are obsolete or in testing and review. We have the case of MS Loop that has been going on for years and there is still a long way to go before it comes close to the functionalities of Notion. The new outlook is an unacceptable setback.

Andy - thanks for posting. Excellent video but unfortunately, you are a bit on your own in recommending a switch to the new Outlook. All blogs and reviews are negative, pointing to a whole range of issues and reduction in capabilities. I've been using it for 3 months and am discovering new limitations every week. For many of us, Outlook has been a central pillar of our business lives for at least two decades, so why is Microsoft launching a substandard version?

Hello Andy. Just getting back into building/rebuilding my PC(s) and found your channel in the process the other day. Love it! Thank you for the Airsoft Search My Files post. Appreciate it. Gonna go back and watch your other videos. 👍🏻

The "add to OneNote" function in the new version of Outlook is horrible (compared to the old version). That is the only reason why I havent changed.

I agree it looks much better and I think it’s faster. As you’ve mentioned, a lot of the features with interaction between calendar/tasks/email already exist, but maybe not as easily found. My biggest issue at the moment is that it doesn’t interact as well with one note but hopefully the ability to drag emails in will come soon.

The New Outlook does not yet support IMAP email accounts, which is just about as fundamental these days as anything you can find. The idea that I would need to backtrack 20 years and reconfigure to a POP connection is crazy. When is this going to be fixed?

New outlook doesn't group emails conversations from multiple inboxes like the old version
Great information in video. Thanks

People are so resistant to change. I used this when it was in Beta all through 2023. Loved it our agency software required us to back up to 365 version of outlook. If one uses Teams and Todo you’ll probably like it. If you like Outlook Tasks and you like “finished” applications you won’t.

I have been using "new" Outlook for several months. Now it won't load. Also Outlook OWA stopped syncing messages on May 30. Back to Classic by necessity!

The new Outlook interface seems acceptable, but it presents significant issues:
1. All attachments open as previews or redirect to the web browser from the desktop application, bypassing desktop PDF viewers or other programs.
2. Clicking on the sender's email to select an attachment redirects you to the browser, opening a new tab where no actions can be performed.
3. If the attachment is a Word document, it redirects to Word Online, which is highly inefficient. For instance, the 'Wrap Text' option doesn't function properly. Clicking on an image and selecting 'Behind Text' doesn't work, nor does the 'In Front of Text' command. Additionally, pasting a text box doesn't allow for any movement, and the wrap function is inoperable. Assistance with making these features work in Word Online would be appreciated.

I am used working with flagged email so I have always a look on message I have to follow up. Now I see that when you drag messages in the to do sidebar they doesn't flag. What a bummer 😞

The older version has insert file menu which prompts latest file on top if you would like to attach which is useful but missing in new outlook. I too have switched back & forth to new but still prefer earlier version as new outlook just has better looks not most of the functionality except for snooze and adding select categories to Favourites
