Why Should You Meet with Missionaries? | Spencer

People all over the world are trying to find God, to feel God’s love for them, or to have a stronger relationship with God. If you’re one of those people, missionaries can help.

Let us introduce you: Missionaries are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, typically ages 18-25, who volunteer up to two years of their life to help people discover the joy of coming closer to God and becoming better followers of Jesus Christ. If you sign up for a visit, a pair of missionaries from your local church community will contact you to get to know you and share a message about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Depending on what you’re interested in, they might also pray with you, study the scriptures with you, or invite you to church. It’s up to you!

Just being around missionaries brings a special spirit, many times when people didn’t want to hear our message but we had food to bring and share for a person or family, just wanted to “hang” out with our namesake and shirt and tie of course, the spirit of contention would leave and the spirit of Christ would enter. I miss that time in my life. Here is a quote I heard once it has helped me remember: Be the kind of return missionary that makes someone want to serve a mission. -Remember it’s being “Called to Serve” not just preach and teach, first and foremost to be of service to others for when you are in the service of your fellow men (and women humbly and obediently) you are only in the service of your God, We are the hands of Heaven on earth, my personal opinion is that the Lord intentionally lets some of us be in need or maybe even all of us have been in need one way or another at some point in our lives, whether it be temporally or spiritually or even mental and emotional, so that others can have a chance to be of service, if no one was in need, no one could give.
