Before I leave my house everyday, I create a conversation flowchart for every possible person I might randomly encounter through the day. It’s takes me about 8 hours to prepare before I get to leave the house

Everyone is missing the point. A conversation is like a flowchart. There are infinite possibilities of where a conversation can lead, but you can be READY for every conversation rather than “just winging it” every time. Imagine telling someone to “Just be yourself” for a speech in front of 1000 people! Every conversation is a series of questions and answers. You test/learn about each others’ boundaries, likes, dislikes, and more using the questions that you prepared/practiced to ask. Collect data about people so that you find common interests, then become relatable, then become best friends. They’re not over-complicating it, they’re breaking down conversations and more people need to learn basic social skills like this. Thank you for the awesome tips!

Relationship is a flow chart… its not why she or he is spending less time with you. It whats the incentive to hang out with you…..

I’m on the spectrum and he just described what I thought was the only way to communicate normally with people. I do this at the grocery store, with friends, with competitors, etc. What are y’all doin’ everyday?

This is good advice for someone who gets nervous meeting people but I would rather get the vibe of the person I’m interacting with and dicide what direction I want the conversation to go on the spot. I’m not the so called expert but it seems to work just fine.

Never heard anybody point it out like you did on networking that’s how I think.

How a standup comedian prepares for crowd work or hecklers

Having spent time in many networking events for my work, this comes fairly naturally to me, without preparing a flowchart

I would love to talk to you live & show you what you’ve learned in the CIA is what some of us are born with. These questioning tactics are elementary level at best. I do this on the fly for fun.

Conversation map seems like something Sheldon would draw on his whiteboard.

So interesting because I realised that what I do mentally unconsciously at an event, talk to a few people then get in a rhythm but with planning I can start off with a rhythm

If you think this is a waste of time, you’re just not a person meant to understand

This would work perfectly in theory.. but once you get out in the real world and real conversation, you don't have enough time to recall your preplanned response in your head. I can't imagine having a flowchart in my head for a convo, and it going exactly how I planned based on a potential response. You just gotta flow with it. Conversation is fast paced.

In most scenarios, I feel like this is way overthinking it and it can make things really awkward . Personally I find it easier to just to be yourself and act from the heart and not plan conversations but just speak according to what i think to say at that moment and use true wit and intelligence. People recognize that and like it. For some people, this may be beneficial. It’s just certainly not for me.
