How To Stop Microsoft Edge from Running in Background

To Stop Microsoft Edge, its extensions and apps from Running in Background apply this change in its setting:
Open the Microsoft Edge setting as in this video. Click on “system and performance” then locate for the option “Continue running background apps when Microsoft Edge is closed”. Turn off this option and then close the Microsoft Edge web browser. That’s all!!

Still work in the background you don't mention you need to disable (startup boost)

You also have to disable start up boost, otherwise it will still continue to run in the background. Also, make sure it is not enabled to start on windows start up.

As usual, the top Google search instructions were wrong. Your instructions are right. Thank you very much. Microsoft is the biggest corporate bully in the world. I will never ever ever use edge. It's now a matter of principle. It really bugs me that I can't remove edge from my computer completely. Now there's other stuff I noticed in win 11 I don't need that runs in the background eating up RAM.

i have like 8 edge processes running in the background and i dont even use edge. Cant seem to keep them closed, they all point to the msedge.exe in the progam files so its not a virus, how the fuck can we stop this shit?>

Can someone help, please?
My computer has been lagging super bad since last night and every time I go to use Ccleaner it says Edge Chromium needs to be closed first, which is NOT even open according to my task bar and task manager.. it won't close, I have to force close it and then it cleans like 15.700 KB worth of internet cache when I didn't even use the darn browser.
I've done the steps in this video, "continue running background extentions and apps" is 100% turned OFF, I also turned Startup boost off but it makes no difference. It continues to run in the background and I continue to have to force close it through ccleaner and deal with horrible lag every 5 minutes.
