So, I have been informed that there are even better keybinds for this which is the "Target Member x in Party List" keybinds.
It's a one-step process rather than the two-step process in the video.
(or you could use a mouseover macro if that is your preference)
Thank you to everyone who suggested this!

Or you can press T. It'll switch target from mob you were dpsing on the target who holds mob's aggro.

Alternatively, you could just press "T" and it targets whoever your targeted enemy is targeting(the tank), heal, then press T again. Works wonders for me.

Biggest tip for anyone new to healing from a vet: use Focus Target on your tank for trash pulls BUT Focus Target bosses. It'll help you to see any casts going off when you are targeting & healing your party.

as someone who uses controller I simply press down on the D-pad until I'm targeting the tank and then heal and then go back to max deeps

if only there was a button like F1 or F2 that instantly targets party members accordingly....

You can also do this on gamepad, with a little more setup. First, make a macro in slot 99 with the line /target <f>

Then, in system configuration, go to gamepad settings, and into 'Button configuration', from here, you can set the left stick to 'execute macro #99 (Exclusive)'

Now you can set your focus target to your tank by hitting X/Square when targetting them to open the sub menu, and voila, now you can click your left stick to snap onto your tank for quick gamepad healing, then you can snap back to an attackable target by holding either trigger and tapping LB/L1 or RB/R1.

I prefer having having the boss focus targeted so I always know what it's casting (in case there are adds or something)
I did make a "target target's target" macro but never actually use it because I just use the directional buttons on my controller. I think it only gets used if it's large group content like alliances where the person tanking isn't in my party.

I play on controller, pressing down on the D pad once will generally select the tank for me 8D

I just macro all my offensive healer skills and abilitiies.

/micon "[skill name]"
/ac "[skill name]" <tt>
/ac "[skill name]" <t>

"/micon" changes the macro icon to the icon for the designated skill.
"/ac" performs the following action
<tt> is target's target
<t> is the target

i use f2 to target the second party member which is the tank. it also helps to kind of get used to using the F keys to target the other party members too. Then you never have to click on their names.

I'd always just recommend moving the party list close to the center of your screen, on the right side. That way it's easier to monitor, and easy to click.

Im already using my mouse at all times for camera control. And the tank isn't the only person I want to heal, most of the time.

I‘ve started using 1 - 4 and Shift + (1 - 4) as keybinds for the entire party list.

There is also T to target you targets target.

And you can soft target after setting a keybind for it that will automatically return you to your previous target after using an successful ability.

"target the target of my target" is another handy one for bouncing between the mobs and your tank

On Keyboard, you can press the 2 on the Numpad, and it’ll select the Tank. At least if you have the Tank arranged to be always at the top of the list, you’ll always select the Tank at least second because it targets yourself, and then the Tank if you’re healing. It does all of this, but Focus Target has the benefit of making your Tank’s health bar appear elsewhere on screen to help you keep tabs.

Another useful tip that works for PC and controller (w/keyboard) players is to simply bind a key to Target your current Target's Target. The tank should have highest enmity, so the enemies will be targeting it without any extra presses required. You can buffer it while casting and press it once again after healing to return to a target. There are moments where I like doing that when using controller since I can just press that button on my keyboard with my pinkie finger. But usually I just rely on quick target changing (hover over healing) to keep the primary target selected.
