I’m Vincent Racaniello, Earth’s Virology Professor.

I’m also a professor of virology at Columbia University in New York. I’ve been doing research on viruses since 1976, and teaching virology in classrooms and online since 1999. On this YouTube channel I share videos of my lectures, podcasts, and more.

New videos are uploaded every Thursday and Sunday mornings.

In the discussion of HCQ failure to treat Covid, Dr. Racaniello said it is used to treat malaria. It used to be, but now most Plasmodium are resistant, so newer drugs are used.

Vincent, you are my favorite teacher on YouTube. I am nowhere near a medical student, however I do understand 3/4 of your presentations and I do learn. Back in 1999 I was Hep C + - I entered the Shering Plough study using interferon and ribavirin, (I know that I did get the ribavirin because they weren't really good at covering the bottle.) I was cured, my doctor said I was cured, and I never had a liver problem since- 22 years. That was before "big Pharma" became the bogeyman. Thank you so much For making the sessions palatable. I don't usually comment, but this one was really interesting to me since it applies to me. I am one of those people that viruses like. - Sandy
