This is an example call of what it may be like when a worker calls to see if you are available to take in a previous foster child. 27% of foster kids re-enter care after reunification with their parents. If you foster long enough, this may happen to you.

I JUST had this happen. Had 2 kiddos for 9 months, they went to family and then I got a call asking if I could take them back-plus more siblings. I ended up with 3, in addition to another little that I already had. It was a traumatic experience for them, made easier by the fact that they knew me from before. Breaks my heart knowing what has happened to them all.

I don't think I'll ever become a foster parent seeing how my life is a mess and I can organize anything. But even for someone like me, your videos help sensitize and better understand and appreciate what it's like working with children and teens with trauma. Thank you for your work, both on the ground and educating us, people on the internet you'll never meet.

This is THE HARDEST for both foster parents and the children. I have had children returning as well and there are no words for the level of pain the children endure. Asking for a few days to get ready for this enormous project is extremely important for the foster family. Yes it’s tough for the children being in an emergency placement but this situation is so stressful for everyone you can only jump in with a clear sorted head and house. Do not ever feel bad for asking for this time to really be ready!

We adopted after 6 years waiting to see if the birth parents would change. We've been so blessed. He is now 16 and an honors student. Its a hard road at times but does have happy endings.

Wow, when I was in and out of care growing up I never went back to a familiar placement. That would’ve made things a little easier each time.

I am excited to say that because of your videos I start Foster care training next week.

During orientation I was mentioning your YouTube to everyone and I will do the same during training haha

I may not have a big house and nor am I married but I have the space, time, resources, and compassion and empathy. And hopefully the patience 💞

Please continue to share new content and re-share older content as its helping me tremendously…

My grandmother did foster care for years. She had so many issues with the system. The one that finally broke her and made her quit was a little baby girl, drug affected. She put so much care and time into getting at little baby healthy again, and the system kept putting her back with the "mom." The woman never stopped using, the baby always ended up at my grandmother's. I don't know how the story ended for the baby, but I know my grandma adopted her last four foster kids and stopped fostering.

I love that you mentioned asking to FaceTime to say hi and comfort them. I feel like that would help so much!

What's frustrating is that this often happens because bio parents don't have the resources as readily available as it seems foster parents and group homes can access. I've experienced this personally.

Thanks for your videos, I'm not a foster parent but find your knowledge transferable to grandparenting and also helps with my day job by reminding me that some children lead lives that are far more complex than I have ever imagined. I have a question about sleep patterns, and supporting children to feel safe to sleep. Once again thanks.

Thank you so much for being there for these children. I am not at a point in my life where I can do this and I pray for the wonderful people like you that provide a safe haven for these children.

I know this isn't the focus of the video, but your acting felt very realistic here haha. You conveyed the exhaustion and pain of the situation very well

I just wanted to let you know how helpful your videos are. I have always wanted to be a foster parent, but im currently not in a place financially or physically where that would be possible but your videos help me feel like im still able to somewhat prepare, and remind me why I want to do it.

I love all these comments from people who have no idea. I watched my mother get this literal call about a young girl who came back into foster care six times with her 7 siblings. Unfortunately by the time she was 16 and once again returned to foster care, my mom had retired. Her mom would get clean, get all of the kids back and then relapse over and over. Truly a nightmare for the kids.

I just goggled if I could become a foster or a parent through adoption and I can. My disabilities don’t disqualify me ! Of course I plan to become a foster parent/ adoptive parent when I’m ready in all aspects including financials.
