Black Myth: Wukong is an ambitious and oftentimes jawdropping action game that both delighted with its excellent combat and fantastic boss battles, and frustrated due its puzzling lack of a map and technical issues.

To repeat what was said in the intro: As part of the embargo agreement set for this game, I am unable to show you footage beyond chapter 2, which presents a bit of a problem because a lot of the technical issues that I had with this game that I specifically call out in the review occurred after chapter 2, so I’m unable to actually show them. The voice of the Buddha statue monster is not a bug 12:03, it's not that it suddenly turned into Chinese, but that the monster is reciting Sanskrit mantras. In the Chinese version, it also suddenly recites Sanskrit mantras without subtitles, instead of suddenly turning into Chinese due to a malfunction as he said in the video. This is an irresponsible assertion, a low-level false accusation, and IGN can only use it as one of the flat evidence to deduct points, which only shows IGN's own foolishness and the success of this game

As a Chinese, it is hard for me to imagine how difficult it is to translate much of the Black Myth wukong into English, because it is filled with many ancient Chinese poems, and ancient Chinese ways of speaking. For a Chinese person, these words in modern Mandarin have a completely different feeling from the ancient way of speaking. To express a similar meaning in the ancient way of speaking (“wen yan wen” in Chinese) and to express it in the modern Chinese language contains a little different emotion and content.

* Not knowing about China's Journey to the West is your own problem, because your experience is too short, not the game developers' problem. When you play "Hogwarts Legacy" before you should fully understand the books or movies related to "Harry Potter", the same goes for Journey to the West, which is a book with rich meaning.
