On the bright side, after finishing this game, you should be warmed up to play Elden Ring.

WOO WUKONG! Been super excited for this game to come out and looks pretty fun to! The Baby was truly the REAL final boss of this stream lmao. Glad to see you're having a so much fun with it! NGL I thought the story was going to be about eventually lead up to the actual story of Journey to the West and then got super confused when after the starting fight lol. The voice acting under the Chinese dubbing is done better. I guess it's nostalgia but the English dubbing just cannot properly capture the way certain characters speak.

Honestly seeing more non western literature and folklore seep into popular culture is a good thing. Don't really have time to game these days but keeping an eye on this one.

My first exposure to Journey to the West was through the Monkey Magic animated series as a kid and its game which was actually pretty damn good as far as PS1 platformers go. I've come across so many different adaptations and reimaginings of the story but this one so far from what I've played is probably the best at least as far as my first session goes.
