Shoulder Pain & Neck Posture Link (Key Rehab Exercise!)
Показать описание
Hello, this Dr. Eric Cobb from Z-Health Performance, and in this video, we're going to talk about the link between shoulder pain and neck posture.
We'll dive into the Autonomic Nervous System, specifically the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems, and how they can be affected by your posture. We'll also discuss the Goldilocks Position, which is the ideal position for your neck and shoulders to be in for optimal function and comfort.
While the relationship between posture and pain is nebulous in the scientific literature, we do know that alterations in neck posture can create measurable changes in neural activity in the upper extremity.
In a recent publication, researchers found that forward head posture was clearly connected with increased sympathetic nervous system activity in the upper extremity. This can lead to hyper responsiveness in the arm which can be connected to pain and movement dysfunction.
While we find this info incredibly interesting and useful, don't worry, we won't just be talking theory. We'll also show you a key rehab exercise that you can do at home to improve your understanding of how your neck posture impacts your shoulder motion and pain.
This is a great personal learning exercise so we hope you find it very useful!
