Sorry to everyone with a fancy fitness watch who thinks the calorie count is accurate. These trackers can be great at other things, but this ain't one of them.

In reality, the bulk of your calories aren't burned sprinting or in the gym at all - that comes from your basal metabolism, or the calories you basically burn by existing.

How to burn more? With more lean muscle and daily activity including walking, chores, and fidgeting. How to tell how many calories you burn? Eat your maintenance calorie target and see if your body changes.

This is true

Train for health, strenght and endurance. Those calories you burn don't add to much.

To make things even worse, training can boozt your appetite far more than those calories you burned off justify and if you trained really hard it can severly limit your non-excercise activity.
So if you are so wasted after a workout that you just lay on the coach the entire day instead of cleaning the house or go shopping you might actually end up burning fewer calories than if you had skipped training.

I'll be honest though. Having done running (not as much sprinting as jogging) and also powerlifting. Its much much much easier to maintain weight while running then it is while powerlifting. Powerlfting I have way more muscle much much more strong. But lets be honest. I'm a dough boy now. When I used to run, I could eat anything just about and maintain my weight.

What he is addressing here is caloric intake/usage…guys - for most people, it’s pretty straight forward math problem to solve: eat less but of best “quality” you can…and just move more. If you add lifting program, there’s additional benefits. Main thing is - NUTRITION

Everything he's saying here is correct. The only issue I have is weight training makes me far hungrier than cardio.

Sure, but cardio is still beneficial for weight loss. Even if you just burn 200-300 cal, it still adds up and is better than just sitting on the couch. If you keep doing it, you'll be able to do more cardio and therefore burn more.

Not sure why everyone is over correcting and suddenly vilifying cardio. Personally, i find hiking/walking very boring, so most days i dont do it. Id rather run a few km every day instead
My point being, either are an option, just try different forms of cardio and see what you enjoy

You can build muscle sprinting, most of my glutes and hamstrings/calves I have to thank to sprinting
