What is a Catholic's perspective on Salvation? Fr Christopher Smith gives a detailed, yet concise history (relative to the scope of this topic) of the many scholars who attempted to define how to obtain salvation: sin, grace, nature, salvation, sanctification and justification.

I appreciate the clarity of this presentation, and the fact that one can stop the video over and over again, in order to see how one's personal experience, or usual way of thought, relates to what's being said, and can both be better understood for its worth, or for its need for enhancement, with the help of this presentation.

Thank you Father Smith. I hope to attend one of your Masses. Taylors SC is truly blessed to have you as a priest. Your education is very very impressive. Good speaker too.

Fr. you need to make more Youtube videos on Catholic Theology. There are very few contents in comparison to the myriads of Calvinistic contents.

I appreciate this because I'm talking in circles with Catholics. Now I can hopefully talk not in circles.
Faith does not come after salvation. For, Romans 10:31-32 says "but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works." So we see that you pursue righteousness through faith. Not the other way around. And Jesus says "whoever believes in him will have eternal life" John 3:15 and "and you are unwilling to come to me so that you may have life" John 5:40. So we see that we come to Jesus and believe in him for eternal life and not the other way around. And you see that we are saved by Christ and not by Christ and "in the Church." It is by Christ alone through believing in him alone.

Just looking how few people actually go to Confession today compared with how many go to take Holly Communion gives you an idea on how much “Catholic” people are today.

Christ says to the Father: Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me, but your will, not mine, be done.
Did Christ limit himself to doing the Father's will? Wasn't it supposed to be his too?
On the cross: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
"Why have you forsaken me"? But did Christ not know the plan of salvation? And was He not in agreement with him?
There is something here that needs more and better explanations!

John Paul II, General Audience, Dec. 27, 1978 -
“Jesus is the Second Person of the Holy Trinity become a man; and
therefore in Jesus, human nature and therefore the whole of humanity, is
redeemed, saved, ennobled to the extent of participating in ‘divine life’
by means of Grace.”

John Paul II, Redemptoris Missio (# 4), Dec. 7, 1990 -
“The Redemption event brings salvation to all, ‘for each one is included in the mystery of the redemption and with each one Christ has united himself forever through this mystery.’”

Why is Jesus, the Son of God, a man and not a woman?
Knowing that "God doesn't play dice", there has to be a deep reason for this fact.

Salvation is in the simplicity of Christ. This guy complicates salvation. 1Cor.15:1-4, Ephesians 2:8-9, Ephesians 1:13, Romans 3:25 Romans 4:4

Very interesting; but please, be aware of your habit of sub-vocalizing after every 2-3 phrases (w.g., "right? "OK?").

Human Role in Salvation:
Woman: Mary, incarnated by the Holy Spirit by being born Jesus Christ;
Male: Unknown;
This is all more strange, since Adam was created similar to God and Eve created out of man!
What then is the role of man? We still have a lot to know!!

I’ve learned a few things through this fruitful lecture. Except when he downplays Luther; maybe Fr. Smith forgot his medieval history. Almost everyone, if not all, in the medieval world was deeply concerned about salvation and the afterlife. Hence, Martin Luther was no exception. God uses Luther to voice against the abuses and man made dogmas.

It's not the gospel they added works in grace! Even if an angel came down and gave you a different gospel let them be accursed. Fact.

"Mmmk?" Why is a Catholic priest dressed like a protestant minister and sound like he's chatting in a gay bar?
