Heres a simple way ive always thought about it, salvation is through faith but actions speak louder than words.

I've spoken to more than a few of those who are protestant, or under one of the few hundred plus denominations of protestantism, and a few other denominations. I'm beginning to think that they care more about being anti Catholic, rather than listening to actual Catholics, especially catechised Catholics, who try to propose and defend Catholicism in good faith. They need to remain that way to validate their own denominations existence at this point. May the be guided to the truth🙏✝️

Yup, and don't forget that the Catholic and several Lutheran churches signed a joint declaration in 1999 agreeing that our fundamental principles on Justification are agreeable. Much to the chagrin of what most Protestants had come to believe after the 1500s.

I'm a protestant, and it annoys me to no end when other protestants argue that catholics aren't Christians. I've said this to multiple people, "The catholics are your brothers and sisters in Christ whether you like it or not."

“If anyone says that the sinner is justified by faith alone, let him be anathema" is a canon from the Council of Trent though

I’m a 71 year old Protestant, who grew up around mostly Catholics and I’ve never heard any of my Protestant brothers say Catholics believe that way. Most Catholics in my life are sincere and saved souls that love the Lord. To me this video looks like a setup. 😊

"For this reason Luther's phrase: "faith alone" is true, if it is not opposed to faith in charity, in love. Faith is looking at Christ, entrusting oneself to Christ, being united to Christ, conformed to Christ, to his life. And the form, the life of Christ, is love; hence to believe is to conform to Christ and to enter into vis love. So it is that in the Letter to the Galatians in which he primarily developed his teaching on justification St Paul speake faith that works through love (cf. Gal 5: 14)"- Pope Benedict XVI(Nov 19, 2008)

"none of those things which precede justification-whether faith or works-merit the grace itself of justification, For, if it be a grace, it is not now by works, otherwise, as the same Apostle says, grace is no more grace."- Council of Trent- Decree on Justification CHAPTER VIII

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
SECOND EDITION
2007 "With regard to God, there is no strict right to any merit on the part of man. Between God and us there is an immeasurable inequality, for we have received everything from him, our Creator."

It is by faith and obedience to Jesus that we are saved.

Catholics and Protestants have some significant differences, but I think that they're much closer in this area than many realize. ❤✝️

I understand that doctrinally catholics will never say "you need to earn your salvation"
... But the way their doctrine plays out in actual reality. This, in fact, is the case.
Example.. You ask them about justification.
The infusion of grace doctrine and the 7 sacraments dispensing grace make grace into a tangible substance.. Making it dispensed in a "piece meal" fashion, and this makes makes it into a worksbased system.
....
