A larger swaybar with poli bushings and endlinks make a big difference in handling. Digs is a brilliant person not only for his car knowledge but he was able to give us a lecture about handling the whole time Angus was setting the car up in the air.

Qa1 needs to give you a bonus for that education we got on suspension!!! Very good and detailed and easy to comprehend! Awesome!!! Thank you man!

This was one of your best videos ever, show and tell at its finest. Just about anyone can benefit from these modifications. You teach it well, very informative. Keep it up.

This reminds me of when I used to autocross my 1979 Cutlass with that horrible baked-in positive chamber gain. After slapping on a set of cheap Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks and the biggest factory compatible sway bars I could find in the local wrecking yard, it still had horrible under-steer from the positive chamber gain. I eventually found the tallest, softest bump-stops I could fit from the local 4x4 shop . . . and actually got it to handle surprisingly well, considering what I was working with.

You do a fantastic explanation of car systems when you explain the how's and why's. Thanks for breaking it down for those of us that like working on cars but don't always know the in's and out's of improving our ride.

Videos with John and Angus are awesome, But I wanna see you and your brother do a revival. Jesse needs his own car.

Good common-sense video! My dad bought a 74 Malibu and found the back shocks were blown and the springs were very soft. I found embedded dirt in the back bumper.

Apparently the former owner used it occasionally to tow farm equipment in the field! So we put new shocks, tires and rear cargo coil springs and that thing cornered flatter and better that it had a right to. Aftermarket stuff (Moog) made it nearly neutral once a good suspension guy dialed it in.

First

Also, note. My 97 cobra with 300 wheel horsepower, 4.30 gears, and a full tubular front suspension, coilovers, and better tires only did about 3-4 seconds better than Angus's 80 camaro with about 100 horsepower, horrible 2.70something gears, and tires with the wrong compound.

SHOCKS ARE A GREAT INVESTMENT!

This is a great video. So many people when they mod cars only ever want to talk about horsepower and engine mods. People forget that suspension is one of the best ways to mod a car, it’ll help you better transfer the power that the car already has to the ground, which means better performance. Good show!!

JD’s, your channel is really developing well in many ways. I really enjoy your skill. You are helping many hot roder’s.

Love this sort of easily absorbed technical help, fantastic job transferring complex suspension geometry and physics knowledge in a way the shade tree mechanic can learn and apply

That car needs sub frame bushings something fierce. The amount of movement is wild. Also a good tire size for that is 225/45 17. You get rid of side wall flex from the 15" stock tires.

Honest to god, your 4 and a half minute explanation while standing in the in-law's driveway was worth more than a semester of "chassis control systems" course at the University of Michigan. Heckin' nailed it. That technical knowledge and the way you can apply it to budget builds is gold. Keep it up.

I had a fantastic time meeting you and the whole gang! I was the guy with the rusty bug who kept offering you beer. So glad I made it into the background of the video. Can't wait for next year!

QA1 is in my hood, however no matter how good the shocks are if your tires are crap, you're still driving crap, but with nice shocks. BTW, thanks for giving autocross some exposure. It's a great way to test the limits of your car (legally) and meet some incredible people in the process.

Drove through Illinois plenty of times (way more than necessary), and can agree...The roads there are the WORST in the country. Props to Angus!

Have inattention blindness of the background behind Kevin? Have no fear, I present Angus with a 2x4 “destroying”
his Camero. 😂 😂 😂

Great vid guys! I was wishing Thunderhead was there to work on that carb because even tho under powered, that car should be running stronger than it is. 54 seconds is nothing to be ashamed of! More of these videos please!

I had a '79 Z28 and the unibody frame broke in half when a tow truck driver backed it into an up hill lot. Loved that car. Insurance is a rip off.
