Also, generally when you answer an easier question voluntarily earlier on in the class it seems like your far less likely to be called on later on a question you don’t know

Here’s the thing. One of our teachers doesn’t care if we’re done, he’ll just want us to share even if you’re still working on anything.

My teacher basically calls on everyone. Even if you’re “occupied”.

“Show that you are engaged and not available to answer”

My teacher when she sees anyone doing that: “ HEY LISTEN TO ME WHEN I TALK! AS A PUNISHMENT ANSWER MY QUESTION!”

I just drop my pencil when my teachers start asking the questions, spend a whole minute looking for said pencil, then grab it when they choose someone else, and now they all think I'm clumsy :')

You know you're gonna get picked when u feel that weird connection with the teacher while accidentally making eye contact

The best technique is just to drop your pencil or start drinking water. Your teacher won’t want to call on you if you’re drinking water or if you’re on the ground picking up your pencil

Another great way is to “look” for something under the table, it’s a bit awkward to pick on someone who’s literally on the floor

and then the teacher is like "it's ok, i'll wait."

It feels so good when you and a few others raise your hand in class, and the teacher picks somebody else to answer and it turns out you actually got it wrong but the teacher just assumes you knew lol. And internally it’s like “thank god that could have been so embarrassing”

If you have a good teacher or a teacher you generally vibe with it's actually good to get called on if you don't know the answer cause they would actually be helpful

Me: * tries to flip through pages to look occupied *
Teacher: “ah you look very interested in this topic, why don’t you answer it now?”

Here's my version: participate in 2 questions you know preferably in a row and look SUPER excited to answer like it's the best thing in your life. Trust me, the third question will come and the teacher will say "that's enough let others answer the question" and leave you alone for the rest of class. I did this for Chemistry and got away all year long by participating in the dumbest questions!!

The teacher: God, these people are idiotic, good thing that guy over there is reading, might as well ask him the questions to make the class smoother...

Has anyone else had that moment when the teacher asks a question and u are so eager to answer thinking you know it but then they call on someone else and the person gets a completely different answer than u and it’s correct.
That feeling of relief 🥲

This backfired badly cause I was " occupied " going through the text book and the teacher goes " hmm you seem your interested please tell the answer "😂😂

My Geography teacher would always say out loud "who's been quiet today?" when asking a question then would follow it up with "who isn't making eye contact?" First person to make eye contact got called on 😂

I remember back in high school we had a chemistry callout session where the teacher would test if we knew the materials we studied by asking questions and calling out on random students. I was a pretty decent student, but I forgot to study that day. I basically rose my hand eagerly and kept eye contact whenever she glanced at me. She didn't call on me once.
I might've been lucky but it helped a ton
