Carrie, new subscriber here and I just wanted to share the fact that twice now while watching one of your videos I’ve had this moment of utter peace and contentment, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced honestly. Like a feeling of zen that I didn’t know existed - all anxiety, doubts, negative self talk, thoughts of the future, thoughts of the past, everything just melts away and I just feel...so so content. I’m so grateful to have experienced it twice now and both times it happened while watching one of your videos! (Today it was towards the end of this one and a while ago it was during your meditation video.) Just wanted to say thanks love, something about your energy clearly helps to put my very being at ease. 🤗💕

Also I clicked on this thinking “I don’t have anxiety but I’ll watch it anyway” but hearing you talk about this made me realize how many thoughts I have that I didn’t even realize were a problem. This advice is so good for EVERYONE!

I love this self care series of yours. You have wonderful ideas and advice for others. I am a therapist and I use a lot of these techniques with my clients. I look forward for more.

1. Realize your thoughts
Identify triggers or what is causing the anxiety. Walk yourself through your thoughts and recognize the irrational aspects- trying to talk back to them.
2. Be open to receiving help
It’s okay to accept and seek help. You don’t have to handle everything on your own even if you “can”. There are people and professionals who care about your emotional state and would love to help.
3. Cultivate a support system
Chatting with like-minded individuals who also are battling anxiety will help remind us we are not alone and offer new perspectives to our problems and concerns.
4. Get moving
Physical activity will help us de-stress and focus on accomplishing hard things; which may take our mind off of the problems we are facing in our life instead of dwelling on them. Endorphins released during exercise will make us feel better and happier!
5. Be gentle with yourself and practice self care
Indulge in as much self care as you need! Self compassion, self love, and self care are all things to focus on. Treat yourself with kindness and in the same way you would treat your best friend. This includes internal thoughts and self talk 😊

I do LOVE to workout. I was used to doing to 6 days a week. But then I had developed this weird thing called “Tinnitus” (due to excessive stress and anxiety)where if something makes my heartbeat elevate it’s gonna make the sound worse. It’s a sound in the brain which you hear 24/7. That’s the worse you can get honestly. I feel bad for myself. I would never wish anyone to have it so anyone reading this: worry less, don’t stress, self talk to manage your anxiety and self care. That’s the best gift you can give to yourself. 💕

So hard to be compassionate with yourself. And even harder when those around you tell you are selfish, or "that it is all in your head". especially when you have been through it before, down to the words and you know what is going to happen. thanks for this.

As always, Carrie, awesome advice! I have suffered with anxiety for about 8 years and it has gotten exponentially better in the last year and a half. I had some issues with toxic people in my life and an unhealthy job and walking away from all of that has helped me so much! I still get those moments where my mind goes to the WCS, but I bring it back and tell myself
that it isn’t reality and to focus on what is REALLY happening! Sad to see this series end but excited for the upcoming one! Hugs!

You're so right, it really is so irrational, it's like our instinct. Understanding ourselves and recognizing our needs can make such a difference <3

I appreciate the authenticity in sharing your ideas that worked for you! As a counselor who practices dialectical behavior therapy, I have found that grounding skills are great for anxiety. My favorite one is the 54321 technique where you name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can feel, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and one good thing about yourself. This one is great for shifting your focus to the present moment :)

I would like to share my story with anxiety here. Well for me anxiety happens (mostly) when I start to feel jealous. Jealousy is a very big problem for me, I can not fight it and it's killing me inside, so everytime I get these bad thoughts I get mad. And unbearable is fact that I have no control then, it takes over me. Even if I understand that what I feel is irrational I keep on feeling it. After a while it stransforms into inferiority and become a circle which I can't escape. It is a big challange for my relationship and for myself. This is my story I really feel like sharing here.
Your videos are very inspirational a thank you very much for your words.

This video is all that I need right now! I'm a college student and about to graduate in less than two years. I have been getting anxious about getting internships and looking for a career after university. Will definitely take the day off to do some self-care ❤️😊

I totally agree on the importance of compassion and self care. Meditation works beautifully with anxiety because we make that fundamental step back from our thoughts and emotions. Thanks 😊
