Yes and it’s so hard to manage the anxiety when life feels like it just got more hectic. It feels so vulnerable, especially if you haven’t struggled with anxiety before.

This happened to me in my early 40's, could not sleep at all had severe anxiety, couldn't drive on highway if there was traffic, it was absolutely horrible. Progesterone helped me get through it. But I gained so much weight as soon as I started taking it 😩

That was my experience. Out of nowhere I developed anxiety and a feeling of suffocating. Once I went on hormone therapy it stopped. After my hysterectomy many years later I stopped progesterone and I’ve recently had a close call with an anxiety attack. Wondering if I need to go back on progesterone. It sure was relaxing at night too and I’d love to get that benefit back as well.

Yes sister, preach! Micronized Progesterone helps so much with sleep and calms my anxiety. I was given a low dose of Ambien the same day i began HRT and i didnt need the ambien the first three days of taking progesterone! Sometimes i still need the Ambien, but its not as often!

Hi! Do you happen to have any natural tips on how to manage this?

So, progesterone supplementation CAUSES these problems for me. Wrecks my sleep. Mental health spiraled into dark places. Brain was a total mess. Progesterone has the opposite effects you describe. I don’t know why.

How should we take progesterone during perimenopause? Cyclical or continuously and at what dose? Can it be taken alone?

I am going on 51 should I be taking progesterone every night? My doctor had me taking it cyclically. My periods aren’t the same so that’s hard to gauge. Maybe I should be taking it nightly? I am on estradiol patch too.

I asked my nurse practitioner for progesterone and instead was given armour thyroid that put me into hyperthyroidism! Low progesterone can be a reason for elevated TSH and normal T4! I wish doctors listened to patients! I know I need progesterone but cannot get a prescription for it!

Does the IUD help with this as well? I hate the physical side effects oral progesterone has for me.

Is this something that can also cause anxiety in the follicular phase? I only have anxiety then, not the luteal phase.
