Strange times we’re living in where you have to negotiate to purchase a vehicle at sticker price.

When I was car shopping last year, I was more surprised how much more I knew about every car on a lot then some actual sales associates. If they knew nothing about something, I would 100% tell them to get me someone else who knew about the car.

Hyundai 112 is one of the most honest dealerships here on Long Island. My Grandmother leased 2 vehicles there over the years and they didn’t even attempt to try and take advantage of her which is rare around here

Here in California, I was able to negotiate 3-4% off MSRP for a Subaru Forester back in February and recently a Legacy that we’re picking up tomorrow. No dealer add ons, 2 year Subaru maintenance plan included, and both deals were made over the phone/email before going in to buy the car or reserve it in the case of the Legacy. Being patient is key and being fortunate to live in the middle of CA and using all of the Subaru dealerships from SF to LA to find the best deal.

I literally just did this exact same thing with over 100 Ford dealerships across the US trying to find a Maverick hybrid. After 3 months I found one in my own state at msrp! It was a grind and I am still fielding phone calls 3 months later, but I learned so much from calling the dealerships.

I encountered a gentleman on a car buying website some 12 years ago who utilized a similar method. I am currently in the process of purchasing a 2022 Toyota Rav4 XLE. This week I will send an email from a GMail account that I created just for this purchase. I am thankful for the additional info that I have accumulated through your YouTube videos. I too have a spreadsheet that contains the names of 50 dealerships who I will be contacting. Regrettably, new car inventory is just about nil, as pre-orders are backed up, which will more than likely result in a multi-month wait for a delivery date. Again, much thanks for all you do.

An important take away here is you should be ready to buy from dealers located far away from your location. I think most people give in to the ridiculous mark up because of the convenience. A Ford dealership 2 miles away from me wont even give me an otd price for a factory order unless I order and sign the order on the spot. I took my business to a dealership 3 hrs away from where I live.

Great Video... I just took my 21yr old son to buy his 1st car!! We went through similar steps.. we call over 10 dealerships & visit 5! After 1month of searching We finally was able to locate a Chevy Trailblazer 15miles from our hm. This was 1 of 3 dealerships out of all the ones we contacted that sold is the car at MSRP. Of 24, 499... They try to sell us gap & extended warranty.. We declined the extra. We only paid Taxes, Tags Fees with 2k down

It's hard making any deals on cars of any consequence these days since the dealer has us all by the balls!

in the process of dealing with the extra charges..the dealership isn't budging on the price at all so I am walking away. not paying 40, 000 for a Honda Accord. msrp was $34, 000 with a $3995. charge because of them having a hard time getting stock I just decided to walk away. I've never paid msrp let alone the extra charge.. I will either chose a different type of car or find a different dealership that is willing to negotiate with me. the new car is a want not a need.

I wish this buyer all the best, good on him for putting in the time and getting a price he was happy with. As others have mentioned, I’d be very weary of a Kia or Hyundai EV. I bought a new 2017 Kia Sedona, and I’ve used the extend warranty to the tune of $6000 so far. New head assembly, new cvt valve etc. Maybe the weren’t pushing the extended warranty for a reason… If they can’t make reliable gas cars, which they have experience with, how are they going to build EVs?

I went today looking for the Mach E, they didn’t have the one advertised in. They wanted to show me a Ford Maverick’22 hybrid. MSRP $32, 500 then I noticed their $15, 450 markup. $47, 950 for that. I walked away laughing.

Same deal with finding an F150 powerboost. Found one dealership, and both salesmen I worked with actually owned the truck. Made it so much easier

Went to a dealership this weekend and he wanted $ 10000 over msrp. I went 7 miles down the road to look at the same car. He was selling the car at the mrsp . No Mark ups at all.

It would be really helpful if you take an undercover camera and record what you say to put in practice what you teach and then once you are successful you can just walk away from the deal. That would help us a lot!

One thing I love about getting older, is the patience that comes with it. I can wait as long as possible to get a new car. I've been researching for over three years and I can easily wait longer than that to wait until the car bubble blows wide open. There will be tons of underwater loans that are going to drop in the future.

Nice vid! Of course, you know it's a terrible time to buy when we have to celebrate getting a car at MSRP. I don't mind sitting on the sidelines for another year or so.

Sales people not knowing anything about the cars they are selling is the norm, rather than the exception!

Just bought a Subaru Crosstrek Sport at MSRP...Got fortunate the dealer closest to me stuck to MSRP...others may, but i was happy with ordering at MSRP and knew any negotiation would below it would be unlikely and de minimis at best. Had a great salesperson who responded to an initial inquiry email and did get everything in writing at the time of the order.
