Jack said that she will die warm in her bed. She is an old woman. The fact that the it showed all her pics beside her is a way of the director to say that she lived a full life which is what Jack wanted and a promise she kept to Jack. So it is just so appropriate to say that she died in her sleep, an old lady, warm in her bed and is finally reunited to her love. After all, she dropped the necklace to the ocean, a symbol saying to Jack that I'm here. It's time to be together. If it is just a dream, it just seems so plain and a boring ending.

as a christian, i believe that she reunited with jack and the passengers who died in heaven.

The photos shown prior to the ending scene show that she made her life count, then she died and met him at the clock. The note jack handed her at dinner said, make it count, meet me at the clock.

Very simple: Rose kept her promise to Jack. When she died warm in her bed as an old lady, she was reunited with Jack in the afterlife. Really beautiful movie, still makes me sob and cry.
Rose went on and had kids, but never let Jack go as promised.

I strongly agree with you. After telling her story and living a full life Rose's life mission was accomplished and she died in peace. Her spirit flew back into the Titanic where she was reunited with Jack along with everybody else how had perish on the faithful night. Also if U notice they're still wearing the same clothing as if very little time had passed. This goes with a theory that time if the afterlife moves much slower. Also if you take look at where people are standing; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class passengers aren't separated. They're all together as one like equality in death they didn't have in life.

I just rewatched after many years and I feel the same I believe Rose died during her sleep. Besides the clock being the same time The Titanic sunk all that greeted her were ones who died that night. The captain, John Astor the passenger who was shot to name a few. The greatest part was she was reunited with Jack her true love.

I never noticed the time but I always believed that Rose died. In my opinion she died while dreaming that and then went back to Jack forever. Thank you very much for the video and the fact with the time and your opinion :)

I don't know about the ghost/spirit thingy but I do know, 90% sure, that it was an afterdeath scene

Theres no way she is dreaming, she is over 100 years old here! She is reunited with ONLY the people that died during the sinking epecually jack❤ and the clock said 2:20 which is when the ship sank. The ship was jacks and rose best part of life since thats where they met eachother which explains wjy they are back on the ship. She finally let go of her human life and was ready to go to heaven to reunite with jack. She passed on. You have no idea how much i cried typing this.

Thank you for going over this scene. I have always accepted this as Rose entering heaven with everyone who knew her waiting for her.

Rose dies at the end of the movie. After the crew sees her drop the necklace into the ocean. The crew chokes the life out of her.

I thought everyone knew about this when the movie came out. She’s clearly dying in her sleep and reuniting with Jack in the afterlife and everyone else that died on the Titanic was there too

"Meet me at the clock" was written on that note he slipped into her hands. When she passed, he was waiting for her at the clock.

James Cameron wants to keep us in the dark but it's clear she passed away and moved on to her afterlife with Jack.

Sorry Mr. Director,
But Rose is indeed dead at the end of the movie.
It really makes sense, because it shows Rose's life and everything she had done and it also doesn't make sense for her to be dreaming as we see the ship come into view and then form into the once glorious ocean liner. It just makes sense that Rose dies of old age that night.

When I first saw the movie in the theater back in '97, I was 100% convinced Rose wasn't sleeping.
She died & she sailed into eternity on Titanic with Jack & the rest.

I HAVE AN IDEA maybe rose died at 2:20 am on the other ship she was on as an elderly women. She finally finished the promise she made to Jack 84 years ago, she made each day count and she told the story of the titanic and how she met the love of her life, she wouldnt want to say goodby in a dream that makes no sense. The time also explains why Jack was staring at the clock and was so happy he knew he would see rose again, and she has in fact passed on and was on her way back to him, maybe he would stare at the click everyday, just waiting for rose return. Rose was also wearing ALL white, hinting she is in heaven and will be with jack forever❤💔🥰🤧🥺. She was also greeted by people that died that night, nobody that lived! She finally gets to sail on the ship of dreams for all eternity with all she holds dear and all the freinds and people she loves esoecually Jack. This is a beautiful ending and i only hope i find someone who loves me this much and will forever be with them one day❤ but please repy to me im curious what you guys think of this opinion❤❤🌊

its a good interpretation of the final scene from the 1997 movie, but this is the art what the filmmaker let those scenes open for interpretation. that make such kind of films so great ;-)

This is pretty much how I've always interpreted this. There's a theory that when you go through a traumatic life event your sould can become trapped there. And that's what I've always thought was happening
