This is fascinating! I tried the “test your blood sugar, have a cup of coffee, then test again” to see if coffee is kicking me out of my fast. My first reading was 97. 30 minutes after coffee, my blood sugar was 99. Then I immediately tested again using a finger on my opposite hand and my blood sugar was 83!! What the? Lolol. My husband has been an insulin-dependent diabetic since he was 13 and he told me there will always be slight fluctuations and it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m kicking myself out of the fasted state which is why he suggested I test on my other hand so i could see the monitors are not always spot on. Just sharing because I thought it was fascinating!! I’ve learned so much from you, have dropped 20 lbs with IF, and now I’m obsessed over the science behind it!! #nerdalert 🤓

Coffee spikes my blood sugar although I love it. So am doing a 40 hour fast now and will be drinking tea because coffee makes me ravenously hungry and I end up eating. Tea does not have the same effect on me.

I have done the 16/8 fast for a month, I sadly have not lost weight but my psoriasis

HELP!! I'm 61 years old. I do everything in the book, and I mean everything (even the icy shower!), Omad (20-4), strict keto, no stress, sleep well, I work out 5 times a week (TRX), supplements and yes, I have gained muscles but in the last year, gained 20 pounds! I will try to go back to 3 meals a day and see the effects. I want to get rid of my stubborn belly fat. People say that I look very fit, and I am, but this stubborn fat around the waist is still there! I am a former high-level athlete and high-level coach and... dumbfounded!

I completed my first 72 hour fast a week ago with a 4 lb loss. I was stoked! And ended up going back into OMAD, but I have gained 3 lbs back. I will say that I am maintaining the 1 pound loss, but I am definitely confused as to how I gained back so much. I would love to hear any anyone else’s story that may have run into this.

Given that lots of factors will affect your blood sugar (stress, burning fat etc), how do you know that it's the drink that has changed your blood sugar? And when you say it should be the same 30 mins after, do you mean exactly the same number? I would love to be able to drink herbal teas when fasting but don't really understand how to check. I have a CGM. Thanks so much 🙏
