3 Signs of Kidney Disease / Failure You Don't Want to Miss

Over the course of my career as a kidney doctor / Nephrologist I have seen multiple times where people have had the symptoms we are discussing this week and their kidney disease has gone undiagnosed. So the more you know and can be an advocate of your health, the better you will be at making sure things like this are not missed.

Most doctors are good and will catch these symptoms, but if they are not be proactive and ask to have a blood or urine test. Watch this video and hear about these three specific circumstances. And if you have developed any of these signs or symptoms, it may be worthwhile to talk with your doctor to make sure to check you for kidney disease.

For a limited time you can get my ebook: The Cooking Doc's Kidney-Healthy Cooking for just $9.99!
E-book and paperback available for purchase here:

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”. The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way.

I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.

Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and YouTube sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

This is one of the BEST chronic kidney disease videos I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much. I got diagnosed with CKD (nephrotic syndrome$ when I was 17 and I still take medications everyday to maintain the kidney function I still have. GOD has been good to me. Having resources like your channel is such a blessing.

"I don't now why" CLASSIC! LOL. I think it's better to say "foam" instead of "bubbles" to differentiate the two.

So I don’t have any of these problems and when I had a physical recently they did a urinalysis on me said I was fine. But I continue to have this pain in my side and it hurts to urinate sometimes. What could cause this?

In a previous video, the doctor said lower back pain was "not" a sign of kidney disease.

His talking about KIDNEY failure, Im sure you would know, living with one kidney as I am. Has nothing to do with kidney FAILURE. It is about MANAGEMENT, WITH NO SYMPTOMS,

Excellent work and appreciated! Could please make a video on how to look for symptoms related to prostate enlargement. Is persistent lower back pain related to kidney or prostate problems! In the UK more than 10000 people die every year from prostate cancer and the biggest killer among men! Unfortunately, most men are very reluctant to go for a check-up and early diagnosis!
