Dr. Carlos:
As a doctor, I have seen many patients struggling with fatty liver. Fatty liver is a condition where excess fat is stored in the liver cells, which can cause inflammation and damage to the liver over time. The liver is a vital organ responsible for processing nutrients and detoxifying the body. When it becomes compromised, it can lead to a host of health problems.

One of the primary ways energy is stored in the body is through the storage of fat. When we consume more calories than our body needs, the excess energy is stored in fat cells. If this happens repeatedly, it can lead to the development of fatty liver. To prevent this, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

Leafy greens are an excellent source of nutrients and fiber that can help improve liver health. Eating a variety of leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and arugula can provide the body with essential vitamins and minerals that support liver function. Additionally, the fiber in leafy greens helps to reduce inflammation and improve digestion.

Protein is an important macronutrient that our body needs to build and repair tissues. However, it is important to eat the right amount of protein for your body. Consuming too much protein can put a strain on the liver, while not consuming enough can lead to muscle wasting. It is recommended to eat about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day.

Alcohol and fruit juices are both high in sugar, which can contribute to the development of fatty liver. Alcohol is metabolized in the liver, and excessive consumption can lead to liver damage and inflammation. Similarly, fruit juices often contain added sugars and lack the fiber found in whole fruits, which can cause blood sugar spikes and promote the development of fatty liver.

Control triglycerides naturally by following a healthy lifestyle. Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood that can increase the risk of heart disease when levels are too high. What causes high triglycerides? High carbohydrate and sugar intake, obesity, and lack of exercise are some of the factors that can contribute to high triglyceride levels. To lower them, it is important to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and maintain a healthy weight.

While it may seem counterintuitive, eating fewer meals throughout the day can help improve liver health. When we eat, our body releases insulin to help regulate blood sugar levels. If we are constantly snacking or eating multiple meals throughout the day, our body is in a constant state of producing insulin, which can lead to insulin resistance and fatty liver. Instead, it is better to eat 2-3 larger meals per day and avoid snacking in between. What are triglycerides and how to lower them? Incorporating healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, and olive oil into your diet can help lower triglyceride levels. Additionally, limiting processed foods and sugary drinks can also help lower triglycerides.

I did the whole exercise/healthy eating thing and my triglycerides only went from 300 to 250. Started intermittent fasting 16/8 and it went down to 100, even with less exercise and some processed foods. Super easy to do. Skip breakfast and don't eat after 8pm.
