I don’t want to leave my house. I don’t want to talk to anyone. I just want to pause humanity and sit still for a little bit. No noise no feelings just nothingness for a little bit.

To brush the teeth or brush hair is already a big accomplishment of the day

I think lots of people understand the baby step thing but my problems with people are more so with not understanding when to increase the difficulty. They seem to expect it just whenever they think its been long enough and thats really difficult for me so i end actually relapsing and going back to doing very little.

What if you can't get someone to do the little things?

Humans Don't Get Out of Bed Because of Reasoning that matters they do it out of cause of internal pyschological systems or basically an event

From someone who has lived decades with depression: sometimes the grocery store is too much. You can start way smaller when needed. Anything that gets the muscles moving can start the process.

Squeeze your toes for 10 seconds, then your calves, then all the way up to your face, and then go back down. Then stretch your arms and gently twist side to side. Use the momentum to gently roll yourself up and out of bed. Grab a small glass of cold water.

Adjust as needed, but use the smallest step you can and allow the momentum to help you do the next smallest thing.

Some days getting a shower is an accomplished. Great job whatever you do get done!

I spent five months in bed. I just didn't want to get out. Thankfully, over time, my depression eased a little. I don't beat myself up for being in bed that long. The way I look at it. It helped me recover a little. You are not alone. 🙏

It’s been too long. There’s no one left to socialize with anymore.

My worst depressions saw me struggling just to get up to use the toilet. I neglected my oral and body hygiene, not showering or brushing my teeth for weeks. I lost my job because I called in, day after day, for a month. I went to my family practitioner to find out what was wrong, and he missed the obviously screaming depression when he said, “I can’t find anything wrong with you.” He knew I had a history of atypical rapid-cycling bipolar 1 disorder. I never went back to the idiot.

The things that help me when im really depressed
1. Read 5 pages of anything paper even a childs book

2. If im bad and dont eat/rather starve i drink a nutritional supplement. N somedays thats all i can choke doww.

3. Somtimes just walking around the apartment/house building.

Being ale to say i did three things that day helps

Getting out of bed and taking a shower, that did it and does it for me.

a therapist once advised me to make a "ta da" list instead of a "to do" list when depressed, i was told even if all i could write down was "i survived" to start noting at least one thing a day (gradually increasing) to not only help challenge my cognitive biases but to hack my dopamine system a bit

that was ages ago & i still return to that trick quite often even if just feeling a bit low or overwhelmed it's quite helpful for me 💚 best wishes to all reading this ~ please try to remember it *can* get not so bad (even better!) despite how impossible that seems at times & you absolutely deserve that

One other thing I want to point out is that there is no “one size fits all” treatment for depression. Different strategies work for different people. Many treatments share the same basic principles, but they need to be individually tailored.

Living with depression is itself doing a lot. There's so much over thinking going in our head we already feel overwhelmed and exhausted. It feels like no energy is left to do anything.

This was me today. I went to bed last night after only being awake five hours. Slept 9pm to 2:30 the next afternoon. I appreciate your channel and expertise.

What if that person doesn't have friends? Is petrified of leaving the house? How do you do that because that is like actual torture for people like us who suffer.

I'm a victim of this and kinda have given up on being understood about my depression. My family treats me like there is nothing wrong with me. Thank you for the short

I liked the amz book called 30 Days to Reduce Depression by Harper Daniels. Seemed to help me. Taught mindfulness meditations, simple ones.
