If you diminish the Holy Spirit, you diminish the power and sovereignty of God since he is Almighty in each of the three persons of the Trinity.

I think, if i understood well, that they are not both the source of the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit processes THROUGH the Son, because the Holy Spirit originates from the love that the Father has for the Son.

I am grown up as a Lutherian in Germany and always felt uncomfortable about their explanation of what the Holy Spirit is.
It did not quite fit to my heart but I could not explain what exactly was disturbing to me. Now I recognise !

The Popes have recently recited the Creed with Orthodox bishops without the filoque. No Catholic panicked. It changed nothing.
This is a non-issue, because we Catholics do not use the filoque to mean what is claimed in this video.

The Catholic stance is not that The Holy Spirit ORIGINATES from both The Father and The Son. We believe that The Holy Spirit Originates in The Father and proceeds through The Son. That's why we say that The Holy Spirit Proceeds from both of them. As in there is a line of begetting, called "Procession". The Son is called the Son because He proceeds from The Father, and therefore has a filial relationship to The Father. If The Holy Spirit were to proceed from ONLY The Father and NOT through The Son, then the relationship that The Holy Spirit has to The Father would be the same relationship that The Son has to The Father, and since they are different Persons, that would mean that their relationships would no be equal.

It’s headship, if a man tell his wife to do something and his wife tell children to do something, it’s cause of headship. He’s not greater than his wife nor is a parent is greater than the children. It’s one family with headship. It’s not heresy.

I heard once that the filioque "heresy" is partly due to old language differences and that indeed there is common ground between Catholics and Orthodox in the understanding of the Trinity.
