Being a big believer in listening to what the world is telling you to do rather than telling the world what you’d like to do, once he received enough suggestions to get into teaching, Dan started teaching on the elementary level at Harland Johnson Del Bosque before becoming a professor at Autonoma University Guadalajara, and ultimately taking his unique teaching style to the world with Dan O’Connor Training.

Dan divides his time between the United States and Mexico, where he lives just outside of Guadalajara, in a lakeside village nestled in the Sierra Madres. It is there that Dan lives to spoil his two Springer Spaniels—Maggie Mae, his material girl If you have watched Dan’s videos on the 5 languages of love, appreciation, and respect you’ll know, and the four-legged relationship hero that’s changing the course of communication history: Buddy the Dog.

Dan is killing it as usual. Its always a benefit listening to what he has to say.
Thanks again Dan.

I’m so excited to share a success story. I used your suggestion “that may be but…” earlier today when a colleague kept challenging me in a discussion several of us had had at work around consumer shopping behavior. It’s one thing to have a different point of view but it’s another to negate someone’s point of view and assert that only your way is the right way. So I responded to him, “that may be but the data shows” and then asserted my point for the second time. It worked like a charm. This works great with people who listen to respond instead of listening to understand. thank you!

Dan knows his audience inside and outside-the jump cuts, mini-re-enactments, voicemails that exaggerate the dismissiveness and approval at just the *peak* moments…truly keeps watchers leaning in their chair Dan!

Learning a lot about effective communication. Thank you so much for this. I truly needed this because I am struggling with stuff at the workplace that leaves me super drained after meetings.
I appreciate you Dan.

Hi Dan, that was a really super lesson of how to get your point across . Such a great amusing way too. I was laughing so much. A tonic and enlightened too. I am definitely impressed. So useful and informative. Thank you so very much. Kindest regards from England.

Love the part about simply being more cognizant and conscientious when we speak. After momming so long, spending all my days with toddlers or little kids, it’s easy for me to forget my manners, get sloppy or too casual, especially since the pandemic. Careless mistakes reveal just that: we are careless. That impression could effect the level of integrity we are perceived to express. We can come across unclear at best, or a lack of confidence otherwise. Oops! Right?

I would love for you to do more videos like this where you actually act out both ways, the one that works & the one that doesn't, right together in the same video like this. This was a highly effective way for me to see what I was doing that doesn't work, when I could see them both together.

You make it so much fun. I laughed so much! I feel I got this. And I can do this. I finally feel I have some tools that will help me express myself confidently and most importantly be heard. Am excited because I have become aware of how badly I communicate. I cannot thank you enough Dan🙏🏻

I like these new style of videos. They're very funny. This was really well thought out and delivered. Seeing the contrast makes it so easy to see which way of speaking works better.
