Are You 'Glutton' Free?

The Pharisees and other religious leaders accused Jesus of being too lax in his habits of eating and drinking with the common people by calling him "a glutton." In this podcast, Pastor Jack discusses how gluttony can be sinful in our lives and how it might manifest itself in our choices and actions.

I was 21 and weighed 200 lbs. A female at 5’5”, not good. I had given up, but friends prayed for me. Two weeks later while alone, I sensed God say to me, “If you will come to me to satisfy your soul, then you will only need to eat for your body.” 6 months later without going on a diet, just keeping a song of praise in my heart and having devotions, I lost 50 lbs.

I used to suffer from insomia, and i was going towards type 2 diabetes and advancing Rhuemotoid arthrits. I went full canivore (all meat, no carbs, no processed foods.) January 2024. A year later I sleep 8 eight hours, lost a ton of weight, no more health issues. My doctor is stunned with my turn around. I am 69 yeard old. Praise God.

Time for the church to talk about our addiction to compulsive eating.

I am a glutton, and I promise you it is a difficult life full of feelings of inadequacy and failure.

Pastor love the work that you do. I would just like to tell you and all the brothers and sisters out there that I was obese over 300 pounds and I started eating a keto and carnivore diet. Limiting my meals to once or twice a day and I lost 135 pounds And I’ve kept it off and all my markers are good now I was on my way to diabetes high blood pressure. That’s my testimony. Love you all. Have a great day.

One of the things that frustrated me about my church was all the sugary baked goods people brought in for people to eat before service and especially all the carb heavy foods brought to Friday potlucks. Those treats are fine as an occasional treat, but so many of my brothers and sisters in that church were so morbidly obese, I constantly prayed for their health. My church moved do a different town, so I am currently unchurched. I pray more people seek healthy snacks to bring to church, instead of the cancer causing ones.

Thank you so speaking about that pastor! Long needed topic

Even for people being overweight for the health reasons, some of those problems (like type 2 diabetes) can be reversed by changing diet, being in control of what we eat. I wish people at church would talk more about it without being afraid to offend someone. When my husband and I started to control what we eat more and fast, not only our bodies got stronger but so did our spirit. Self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, and it is related to food as well.

Thank you Pastor! At 6’4” and 270, I should be 75 pounds lighter. However, my problem that being retired and recently widowed, I have zero motivation. Please put me in your prayers that God helps me to deal with my self.

Bottom line, be mindful of what you eat or drink. Not everything is beneficial. TY Pastor Jack.

Very few pastors would speak on this subject when it is so obvious and challenging and can offend people so easily. Blessings Pastor Jack.

Thank you Pastor Hibbs. I’m so glad you did a video on gluttony as I am guilty of it for sure. I pray the Lord delivers me from the spirit of gluttony. I could stand to lose 15 pounds. Blessings from Canada

That’s great to hear that Robert F Kennedy Junior wants to get us all back in the shape. I’m all for it. I’m down. I’ve lost 5 pounds since I’ve started my new way of eating about a week ago. and I’m gonna lose the rest of the rest that I need to by March of next year. It’s a very sensitive topic for me crying right now, but I’m gonna do it and thank you for this podcast. It’s very encouraging.i also have a granddaughter on the way, so grandma needs to be here to be healthy and be here for my grandbaby girl!!! ❤

Thank you Pastor Hibbs. I feel like I need to wear a shirt that says "Hashimoto's Sufferer".
Have always been substantial and well muscles but into my mind 60s my thyroid went on the blink because of an undiagnosed gluten allergy
And You tend to crave what you have sensitivities to
I eat less than most other people, who have normal metabolisms .
I don't eat junk food or drink sugary soda . I eat healthy, but I cannot eat wheat, oats, barley, rye, or anything that contains gluten. Or corn syrup.
And am on a fixed income and do not take food stamps.
It's expensive for me to eat.
Hopefully RFK Jr will make us able to afford to eat healthy .

Thank you for tackling one of "respectable sins" in the American church.

I'm convicted. I'm not overweight but I relax and snack (sometimes a lot) after a long day. This topic has actually been on my mind and heart for weeks now and you've officially confirmed
the Lord guiding me to where he wants me to be. Thank you for being a voice about topics no one in the church wants touch. 🙏🏼 God bless any of you going through a stronghold or battle, lean into Christ and He will help. ♥️

WOW! This message was God sent for me. I have been praying, trying to understand what to do with a book that I feel was God inspired, but His message was not getting through. When I listened to Pastor Jack, I felt as if my prayers were being answered. Ironically, this is the very thing my book is about, double-mindedness. It goes to show you that we must be vigilant in all matters, choosing God and using Jesus and the Holy Spirit to prepare ourselves. Thank you again for opening my mind, Jack Hibbs.
