I was a stay at Home mom with no money in my IRA or any savings of my own, which was scary at 53 years of age. Three years ago I got a part time job and save everything I make. After 3 years, I am 56 yo and have put $9, 000 in an IRA and $40, 000 in my portfolio with CFA, Evelyn Infurna. Since the goal of getting a job was to invest for retirement and NOT up my lifestyle, I was able to scale this quickly to $150, 000. If I can do this in a year, anyone can.

"regardless of your income, what you're doing with your income is the most important". Yep!

I paid off my house and car before I start investing. Then I build 6 months emergency funds. Now I’m putting 27% toward retirement . Adding 3% more every year.
My salary is only 2 digit.

It’s not how much you make, it’s how much you save.

I make 50k a year. My parents make 700k a year. I recently learned that I had more in savings than they did...

For 4 years we lived on one seasonal income with zero debt..It’s been over 10 years since we had a car loan. We make on average $55k a year.

I make way less than the 118k limit and not yet 30 (but close...). I am fully on track for retirement, 2 homes with 1 rented for passive income, no non-mortgage debt, and invest most of my funds to keep my money growing and have a very fulfilling budget based system to do it all. I did go from working minimum wage to making more than twice that in a span of 7 years. It's possible, y' all! This is a good list.

I was raised in poverty, and have a middle class career.

Even though we're now upper class, we'll always identify as lower-middle-class.

Never forget where you came from!

My wife and I make combined $280K in NYC suburb... by definition, I'm def upper class but I dont feel it... Our taxes are like 80K... so out of the 200K, we spend another 50K on housing and 20K on childcare... with 130K left, we spend 60K ish and save 70K ish... so I'm saving good amount but just live plain middle class lifestyle

I think it is unrealistic to take someone who is wise, frugal, etc and call them upper class because they have the benefit of their frugality. Because their frugality shows up in their lifestyle that is diminished from the true upper class. But I argue this. Someone living a upper middle class who is content has a better life than an upper class person who is not content. There is a lot of stuff that rich people spend money on that don't make you happy, secure, or otherwise enhance you life.

I don't remember my salary doubling in a few years but if you've got a good paying job, are living below your means, and investing you're on the path to building wealth. By the definition of middle class used in this video we haven't been middle class for a fair number of years. That doesn't mean a wild lifestyle though. We live modestly and drive nothing special ten year old cars. But that gives us the freedom to spend a little extra on the things that are important to us and not worry about paying for the little emergencies in life, like the furnace going out (which it just did).

It really depends where you live too and if you have state taxes. My husband and I each gross over 100k, but feel and behave middle class. We budget, careful with spending, invest 15% and still have debt. We’re ok with the debt we have at this point (student loans and mortgage) and are working to pay it off but not aggressively. Here’s what makes a big difference- when you bought your house (2019), do you have childcare costs (no, all my kids are in school), how many investing years do you have left- those are important.

The only sign that I'm not middle class is the fact that I was able to retire early, however I live modestly, like I'm lower middle class because most of my income is IRA distributions and I want to make sure my IRA lasts the rest of my life no matter what happens with the stock market.

I'm worth over 5 million and I'm middle class. 30k a month income with some passive income. It's not enough. Trust me. 10 million plus is out of the middle class. I drive a Honda Crv. I can't afford a G Wagon or Rolex. I live in the 1st house I purchased when I was 27. I'm a blue color worker. I'm working class.

Cryptonica has already achieved great results, but you dont talk about it. Why is that?

The problem with being middle class in income without debt keeps your child from getting scholarships for college. Even merit scholarships look at debt as a reason why parents can’t pay more. Crazy! A family member chose early in their marriage to not go into debt except their house. They are tight- because they are saving to buy their next car and pay big orthodontist bills. FASFA only sees a good savings…..
