Genuinely a game changer. This explains why I have a hundred unfinished projects but an abject fear of completing any of them. Time for more trauma work *sighs*

Wow! I struggle with procrastination and I totally shut down when there is the “ next” step to take in a project or business and i’m unsure of. It does not feel like fear but more like disassociation or like im fighting against repellent magnetic forces. It a real problem for me and this explains a lot. Thank you!

I was so happy learning graphic designs and building online stores. I was doing it for myself. But one day I decided to take some designs that it took me three weeks to create and then gift them to my mother. Never got a response or acknowledgement. I have struggled to complete things ever since. Because I am so scared that I will finish and then be disappointed. I should never do anything for anybody except myself.

This hit me so hard. I have always been so hard on myself for my procrastination. This makes so much sense. I have made the decision to cut my father out of my life for good. Since just deciding that, I have noticed a change in my ability to start projects im passionate about. I knew it was related but had no clue my childhood traumas were cause that. I have been working for almost 2 years on healing myself. And it seems every week I learn something new that I could be working on to better my self love and my life.
THANK YOU!!

Wow. This makes so much sense. I am still looking for approval when I'm cleaning up cluttered areas. But it never seems to be appreciated the way I hoped. These are also areas I tends to procrastinate working on so now I just have to decide to do those things for me instead of relying on others for the approval I always needed. 🤯🤔

This short brought up quite a few memories of disapproval. And I do procrastinate terribly. I’d love to release that and get right with abundance from my value.

I actually had that happen with my father. I still went to art college and loved creating, but he never appreciated creativity. His mindset was a regular job.

NEVER blame your parents! Follow your dreams! Give the world your gift!!!! Don't allow others to say what and what you can do! So you can hold yourself accountable to it successful, compassionate, and empathetic to others and help them grow in the process of you also growing so you can give your full self to others with no regrets or expectations of compensation.
Love!!!! And encourage others to more than what the believe they can be!!

Excellent video, Adam.

I think it’s important to point out that in that art drawing scenario, this is positive behavior, and it is about learning and improving over time. Literally a formula. So it isn’t that you are Picasso sketching at 5, or even 15 but you are improving.
In my humble opinion, great parenting is noticing what makes the child tick and supportive and encouraging their development, which includes their Executive Function aka decision-making.

This may involve feedback, room for improvement. Therefore, developing self confidence is a key aspect of child care. Believe it or not, it takes confidence to keep building value and launching that in the world.

Feedback is necessary, but difficult to give, impossible to receive without the individual developing strong self-confidence (completely different than swagger or cockiness, tho not polar).

Perfectly stated. As a clinical therapist I work with clients all the time with the same challenges.

God bless you for saying this...i see things all the time saying they are going to reveal what procrastination is...and after I watch for an hour, read 3 emails, sign up for a summit of some kind, meditate, etc. And still no revelation. Till you. Thank you.
