I proud of this young gentleman. He's reaching out for advice while working to keep his family together. Congratulations to him!

If you fail to plan you're planning to fail. Love Dave's constant emphasis on a plan!

God bless these young couples raising kids. Those kids at least have a dad and mom under the same roof. May God bless their efforts to take care of their family.

45k a year is decent money in a state like ks where the cost of living is moderately low especially in the rural areas. the problem is he's trying to support 3 kids and a wife on that salary. I don't care what state you live in, trying to support you and 3 other people on that salary just simple isn't going to be enough.

Dave thinking EMT’s make 50-60k annually is incredibly hopeful and generous. Maybe someday the narrative and legislation will change where our essential workers are compensated fairly.

What would you recommend for someone who qualified for social security in America and the uk and has an old but small former company pension fund as well as a fund with present employment

Dave: what do you make a year?

Him: another kid...

Dave brings a level of compassion and reality that is truly refreshing.

No more kids, plan/budget better collaboratively. Good news is it sounds like he is waking up.

He should file Chapter 7, not Chapter 13. He qualifies for CH7!
Raising 3 kids on $45k a year is very tough. Congrats.

Sometimes EMT is a stepping stone to get into the fire department. Here in the Bay Area and surrounding areas it is very hard to get into the fire department, most become EMT's first. Even if it pays a bit less initially, it might be what he needs to do to reach his goal. Good luck to this young family!

Back when I was younger I was taking programming classes at night. Until I came to realize I'd be taking a pay cut to work as a programmer. I had to stop, it was a waste of time. Make sure what you aspire to makes sense financially.

Dave, you are very wrong about EMT’s. “The average EMT salary in the United States is $36, 270 as of October 30, 2019, but the range typically falls between $32, 740 and $40, 610.”

This guy’s life so far is summed up by the fact that he’s considering going to EMT school without knowing what it’s going to pay. He needs to start thinking about all his decisions in terms of how they’re going to affect his family’s life five or ten years down the line. Right now it just seems like he’s doing everything on instinct.

Yikes, I feel so bad for this family. I know that’s stressful. Y’all are doing a great job, this economy really sucks. I hope and pray you all can live comfortably and raise your beautiful children (that’s the real goal) ❤

You can do it. Work hard, have goals, work together, and your financial future can be drastically changed.

You got this bro! May have to sacrifice some time away from the kids to work a side gig a couple days at night but you can do it!

Dave makes it sound like making 100K a year is easy. He lives in a fantasy world. Where you live can also impact how much you can make.

The budget was two people need to work. This isnt the 50's. 5 ppl on your income is nuts. Inflation will kill you. Its only going to get worst as the FED has watered down our currency.
