In this captivating brief video, renowned neuroscientist Matthew Walker delves into the extraordinary case of Peter Tripp (#PeterTripp), a man who pushed the limits of human endurance by going without sleep for 200 consecutive hours. Discover the surreal consequences Tripp faced as his sense of reality fragmented and he began experiencing vivid hallucinations.

Matthew Paul Walker, a distinguished British scientist, serves as a professor in the fields of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. Peter Tripp, known for his resonating presence in the 1950s' Top-40 radio countdowns, embarked on a record-shattering 'wakeathon' in 1959, staying awake for 201 hours. This endurance test, aimed at raising funds for the March of Dimes, was conducted in a transparent booth in New York's bustling Times Square, capturing public fascination. However, the stunt took a psychological toll, as Tripp started to experience intense hallucinations, leading to a temporary state where he felt detached from his own identity.

Was going to say it's about the 72 hr mark for me, I see spiderwebs everywhere, once I saw little baby arms reaching out around the base of my dresser. Not long after this I usually just drop. My body says nope and I drop. I have a round-the-clock medically needy teenager who cannot survive without constant nursing care. Well, nurses are hard to come by. So if I have no nurse for days, I get no sleep for days. I'll usually have to call my mom or dad to come watch her and my other kiddos for a bit when I feel my body is about to give out. Longest I've gone is 5 days and by then, I could not speak or form sentences. The voice I did have was rough like I gargled with glass. It's always spiderwebs though! No spiders
