I think you incorrectly labeled them at the beginning. The top is labeled passive but clearly shows you shrugging. The bottom is labeled active but shows you hanging with no tension or muscle engagement.

I broke my shoulder about 2 years ago, recently I started doing passive hangs which caused pain in my shoulder, I'm glad I watched this video before progressing any further!

Holy shit this makes so much sense. As someone with shoulder pain, people always told me to "go hang on a bar." At first glance, it made sense. However, i always felt uncomfortable while doing it.

At the end you say two times active hang so not sure which one is better for an injured shoulder (I dislocated mine 3 months ago)

What if you can’t even do it for a few seconds due to grip / pain in hand grip? What do you recommend?

For me the active hang really hurts my shoulders, like I can’t even do a pull-up. Overall the passive hang makes my shoulders feel better than the active hang.
