Their distrust of Anakin was the first step into catastrophe.

Qui-Gon is such a great character. Love how he tells Obi-Wan there's more to being a Jedi than just aiming to have a seat on the Council.

He acted accordingly, a young boy who wanted to see the galaxy after hearing stories from Pilots. You can see his wonder, his curiosity with his new sorroundings, he acted like a child would and the actor didn't deserve that treatment for just doing his job

"If you'd just follow the code, you'd be on the Council" - I bet Qui-Gon and Dooku heard that a lot.

“Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” That is one of the many message that has stuck with me all these years.

I don't get why people don't like young Anakin Skywalker. He never did anything wrong. He's just an innocent, cute kid with a wide sense of imagination and a big heart; he's very kind and sweet towards the people he cares about such as his friends and family. Plus, he's pretty intelligent and amazing at piloting. He even had some awesome moments such as the time he competed in the pod race and tried to help his friends in the final battle.

Imagine telling all that shit about fear to a kid when he just misses his mom & worried about her safety (reasonably so considering they were slaves). The Jedi were completely detached

"You still have much to learn, my young apprentice"
Obi Wan's blind loyalty to the council and rules killed Anakin.

Even though you can't blame directly the Jedi for what Anakin has become, this movie shows how harsh incompetent teaching structures can make good people turn into hateful people. If the Jedi had a more flexible education model and gave Anakin an experienced master who had the maturity to understand his emotions, he would've probably brought balance to the Galaxy as a Jedi, and not as a Syth.

Qui-Gon to Obi-Wan: "I will do what I must."

Obi-Wan to Ankin on Mustafar: "I will do what I must."

This one of the coldest things the Jedi has ever done. Putting Anakin, a nine year old boy in the center of a room full of strangers and exposing his most vulnerable thoughts must be a traumatizing experience. A room full of "insightful" Jedi Masters and not a shred of empathy between them. You can see it on their faces. Most of them are indifferent, the worst was Mace Windu, who was barely a step short of hostile. Yoda was the least cold of them all.

Man Qui-Gon saying “I will do what I must” at 0:11 to train Anakin and then Obi-Wan ultimately saying the same thing to kill him is crazy.

1:49 I know Jake Lloyd gets ripped apart for his performance but this look might be his best moment. So much is expressed and set up in just a glance.

They prevented Qui-Gon to teach more about Living Force to Obi-Wan, resulting into his in his haze of vision and Jedi stubbornness. They choosed for the first time (and certainly not the last) to not believe in Anakin and last but not least, they sent Qui-Gon to die because they didn't believe the Sith story, underestimating the problem. It wasn't Palpatine in first place to bring darkness to the galaxy, it was the Jedi. The emperor only took advantage of their corruption, pride and lack of foresight to strike.

2:47 You can see Anakin squint his eyes at Mace. Implying that, from the very beginning, Anakin did NOT like Master Windu. Maybe Anakin saw Mace in the same light as his slave masters, (treating Anakin as property rather than a person), this and the overall distrust in Anakin was what led to his fate.

Anakin not liking Mace makes the betrayal in Episode III all the more believable.
Anakin had enough and a mistreated dog will eventually bite back.

I love how at the start we can see Obi-Wan eager to follow the “code” the “rules” - and ignore the teachings of the force - only to fail miserably with Anakin. It is only after failing with anakin that Obi-Wan succeeds with Luke.

Luke is what Anakin would’ve become if Qui-Gon was able to train him. It’s through this we’re able to see how much Obi-Wan grew to accept Qui-Gons teachings

I love Qui-Gon and that he has a mind of his own. I think blindly following the council and their suppressive rules is what led to the downfall of the Jedi.

"I shall do what I must Obi-Wan" damn Obi-Wan really remembered that line.
