I thought they were black & brown & it was more a combat protection leather than actual robe for the black part… but even still, I thought black & brown signified how he was meant to “bring balance”.

Anakin was legit oppressed...leading him to believe and feel untrustworthy. His rebellion lead to an intermittent trust to Palpatine - only in the sense of saving Padmé. Everything that came after, including baring the Vader suit, was only ever out of circumstance.

He was also to younge. To rebellious and driven by desire and emotions. He never properly processed his mother's death.
