How To Squat With A Barbell Properly

Barbell squats are a great way to build lower body strength and muscle, but it's important to ensure correct squat form to avoid injuries.

You can either place a barbell on your shoulders like Personal Trainer Harley does in the video, or you can set up your barbell on the squat rack. When using a squat rack, make sure the barbell rests just below shoulder level.

1. Deadlift the bar up, and then perform a clean and press to get the bar on your shoulders.
2. Standing with your feet shoulder width apart and toes slightly facing outwards, lower the bar by driving your hips downwards, bending at the knees (as if you were sitting) until your legs are roughly 90 degrees from the floor.
3. Push upwards through your heels until you are back standing.

How to barbell squat using a squat rack:
Alternatively, if you are using a squat rack, make sure the bar rests just below shoulder level before stepping under the bar and allowing it to sit on your shoulders. Gripping the bar firmly with both hands, lift the bar off the rack by pushing your legs towards the ceiling, and then follow the above instructions.
