This was absolutely my marriage. I wanted to love and care for and adore my husband, and I think I did. But he was incapable of doing the same for me and stayed in complete denial of his problems and insecurities. He had so many chances to work on himself and I was happy to support him through everything.

He made our relationship impossible. He wanted the marriage and pressured me into it, yet he had no desire to make it work or fix himself. It was never going to work because of him. At least I understand that now, though I wish it hadn't taken me so long to realize it.

As they move forward or hoover, they become more impatient, restless and cruel. This makes them more abusive and dangerous than previous relationships.
Ex hòovered after 13 years of no contact. Within 3 months the cruelty he showed blew my mind... it was LIFE THREATENING.

Omg! Even though we know these things, the way you and Lee word it has more power than how any therapist conveys it to us. Six months in he told me, when I asked what he wanted out of the relationship because my therapist felt I needed to know, “I don’t have what I want out of this relationship but I did create a list of what I wanted in a woman“ and proceeds to give me this fantasy person excel spreadsheet! Tell me why I didn’t leave him then? I don’t even remember texting him back on it. I just glossed over it. Feel so stupid. It went on for another 3 months before I ditched him. You and Lee have been keeping me sane. 3 wks no contact.
