For anyone who wants a career in game development, you must watch this documentary as it will give you a real picture of what everyday work is really like. The documentary is called Office Space. It's 20-30 years old but it's still relevant today.

I'd really recommend making a video on something like "how to make a great cozy game" or anything that has a focus on cozy games in particular, because these recent videos of yours are great but i think youll have the same problem every indie youTuber has which is your video target demographics is diffefent than your target game player demographic which might mean less people clicking through to your kickstarter campaign, but if you make a video that is targeted towards the player you think will most likely want to support your game then youll likely get funded faster, but either way great job, your killing it!

Those wanting to quick start designing, learning the types of variables, functions & data structures in the engine helps understand what's possible, allowing you to make feasible design choices on paper.

I have worked in the games industry for 14+ years on the art side, both as a hiring manager and the one being hired. We have never looked at someone's education when we are hiring.

The most important thing we look at his/her portfolio and past experiences in the field.

The only factor education comes into play is if you want to work in another country as it is a lot easier to get a work visa if the applicant has had formal education in there field that is recognized.

This video has some great advise! I'd like to add on two points to yours
First, get involved in game dev communities around you. Be encouraging and welcoming to everyone, not just your own bubble.
Second, whilst remote work is great, be aware of local game studios. I'm not in a big city but there are plenty of great smaller studios around, if you look out for them.

I don't think you should quit development even if you dont hit your Kickstarter goal. Most indie studios first game doesnt do too well. It is usually in their 2nd or 3rd game when they start to really pick up financially and audience wise. By that stage, youve proven to everyone that you can are passionate about making games, building trust with the community. That being said I hope you hit your goal but even if you dont. Please dont give up.

It's awesome that you've packed so much info into such a concise video -- wishing you and your studio great success with your Kickstarter campaign!

Great video. My goal is to create mods, then join a mod team to create large scale mods, then possibly open an indie studio for even bigger mods. 🙏

Mentioning the engine you're using would help inspire women.

Definitely hoping to own or co-own a studio one day as well so really appreciate the experiences you're able to share!

0:46 how do you imagine this happening? A woman decides to make her own game or get hired in a gamedev company, but then realizes that there are more men making games than women so she thinks "screw that" and pursue some other goal? Lol. There are less women in gamedev because there are less women who are interested in games, especially to the point of wanting to create something themselves. Most jobs will never have perfect 50/50 split of genders because women and men are different.

In the coming years it will become harder to get an art or music job as most work will be done by AI.
