Gareth Southgate has resigned as England manager after his side lost a second Euros final in a row. In a statement, Southgate said: "As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England. But it's time for change, and for a new chapter." The FA's chief executive Mark Bullingham has previously said that a woman could replace Gareth Southgate as the next England men's manager - so is it time that a woman takes over as manager of the men's national team?

Yeah nothing could go wrong with appointing coaches who did well in women’s sports…just look at Matthew Mott

No because they’ll probably go out with the youngest lad in the squad

That is why they never won anything away from home. Always talk nonsense and never find a capable manager.

No! Why do we need more women in the men’s game? Just because?I would rather have the best of the best people at the premier league level man or woman not just an equality hire. If people perceive you to be a DEI hire rather than you being the best in your discipline you would find it hard to get respect from elite level athletes.
UPDATE guy at the end was right in a very PC way. The men and women’s game are two different sports, played under different pressures, tactics etc.

In the meantime, the rest of us just want the best manager that we can possibly have so we can win a World Cup or Euro some time in our lifetime! 😂

I'm not English nor a football fan but maybe a double captain. With the England womens coach plus the best man coach as her deputy?

No reason why a woman should not manage the England men’s team. A woman could hardly do worse than most of the male managers since Alf Ramsey, and could actually do better. Ability to do the job, not your gender, is what matters.

Nonsense. Try out in the Championship, Premiership then apply. Oh, you cant you say, because they won't hire you, you say? That's because its a business and you don't survive if you don't win. Just because its the NATIONAL team and isn't a for-profit organisation (haha). Doesn't mean we put everything aside and celebrate equality whilst watching the players weep for a decent leader. For goodness sake, demonstrate the job at a like-for-like level or in a like-for-like competition and then we talk.
Tell you what lets see what the women can do against a men's Sunday league side! Then we can talk.

Men to woman most of the time have automatic respect and wants to be protective of woman, but a man to man u have to earn respect

Respectfully you didn’t get disrespected on the pitch by the players as a referee is because the players would get penalise but according to you you got disrespected by media and football directors, fans etc the reason is because they won’t easily get penalised so I totally agree with the other ladies analysis a lady coaching a professional men won’t get that instant respect or recognition as a male manager but I definitely love to see more women managers in top male football 🤞🏾❤️but let’s not ignore the criticism and disrespect that would come with the job the same way male managers get disrespected .
