I'm so glad I found your channel. I had been looking for good solutions to wearing glasses within VR for a while (I'm both near sighted with astigmatism) and playing VR without my glasses just didn't work for me. I'm so glad you pointed out VR prescription lenses, it really has made such a world of difference in terms of comfort in VR.

I recently started wearing glasses full time for my astigmatism. I'd been dealing with it for a few years without correction, so having it now is a great relief, even with my mild case.

The glasses gave me such relief that I decided to get inserts for my Quest 2 as well, and I can see VR much better.

This video helped a ton, I've know i have an astigmatism(fairly minor) and VR has always looked like a bad 3d movie without the glasses. But this actually helped me understand why that was!

I always love your explanations of eye issues. You are a fantastic teacher.

Thanks. I have been doing all these remedies since June 2022 and was told that the but the twitching is because of the astigmatism. I can now rule out the astigmatism as the cause of my constant twitching eye. Thank you very much 😊

-4/5 left/right eye on shortsight and -2.5 on astigmatism, Lenses are manditory for me. So glad they are available for VR. I'm just praying they don't go the same way as Drone FPV goggles. Used to have slots for lenses, now they just allow you to adjust the lens position for short sight correction but no ability for correct for astigmatism which is a huge nightmare...

Great explanation Doc. My Dad always makes out his Quest 2 is very crisp, whereas i've never been able to get that, it's nearly always a soft focus and I have to have the headset held in a very specific position for it to be useable at all. I have a -0.75 astigmatism in my left eye, but I always use corrective contact lenses when on the quest (and basically any every day life thing), I believe my issue is more the IPD, which i'm slightly wider than the highest setting (if I remember right i'm about 72mm when measuring on apps).

Basically a perfect representation! I have -1.75 & -2.00 for my Astigmatism and the -2.00D looks almost EXACTLY what I see in VR, which is why I bought prescription lenses from VROptician. Also used your discount link in the process and only spent like $60!

I have keratoconus and very irregular astigmatism, especially in my left eye (-4.00 D). Your example of what astigmatism looks like is actually great, one of the best I’ve seen. It’s often hard to explain to others what it’s like.

I just got a PSVR2, and with fresnel lenses the effect is magnified. In real life, my right eye has less astigmatism and so I use it automatically to make up for my left eye’s astigmatism. In my VR set, this doesn’t work well in many areas of the screen as things get less clear away from the centre of the lenses. So if I’m looking at an object that requires my right eye to be looking off centre, it can no longer make up for my left eye’s issues.

Anyway, love your channel. Just ordered some VR Optician lens inserts based on your reviews and excited to use them, as in VR my eye glasses make an even bigger difference than in real life.

Great explanation and so interesting to see the affects of the different astigmatism in VR.

This video makes me very hopeful. I've always dealt with a double image/blurry or feeling like is was looking through a mirage when in VR. I never once thought it could be because of my (-2.25) astigmatism, but now it makes total sense! I get annual eye exams, but I've never filled my prescription even though I should since I basically, "use the force" when I read text. But I thought since the screens were in front of your eyes (in VR), why would you need glasses? Boy, looks like I was very wrong. I ordered a pair of lens via VR Optician (with your code, thank you!) and they should be here next week...maybe? I'll update this comment with how they work for me. Fingers crossed!!!

I have -6.00 D in one eye and -7.50 in another with my astigmatism. I got a special spacer put in my VR headset so I can still enjoy VR. I tried once without my glasses and had a major migraine.. I regret ever even thinking of trying that lol

I just got diagnosed with a slight astigmatism (+0.5OD, +0.25OS) recently and strangely enough, VR helps me with eyestrain. I don't have my prescription yet thanks to issues with my insurance delaying my ability to order my glasses last year, but I do have a set of prescription inserts that should hopefully be here by the end of the week, so I'll see if that clears up the blur that I do see while gaming.

Hey doc I ordered my lenses from your link. Thank you very much. :D

I have -1.25 on my script. Typically I don't wear my corrective lenses regularly outside of gaming (priorities, amirite??)

That said, as my usage of VR has gone up in the past few weeks I have noticed an increase in fatigue and eye strain. This actually led me to go ahead and pull the trigger on a set of prescription VR lenses as my frames won't fit well inside of my Quest 2. Looking forward to seeing the difference!

Someone who plays normal video games on a tv would notice these symptoms. Something like Psvr2 is just kind of soft/blurry looking lol.

I have a stigma of R -2.00 & L -1.25 Everything looks great, but i get eye fatigue even after turning down the brightness. I'm going to try my glasses, which i never wear 😊

I just got a vr and I got type 2 of astigmatism. It’s not the crispest and I lost my glasses. I’ll find them soon and get a clear view hopefully.

Great video. I’m going to get my eyes checked at opticians. Maybe I have this problem with my eyes. If so, I will buy those prescription lenses and fit them to my psvr2 and all should hopefully be much better.
