WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO
A common symptoms and complaint of astigmatism is blurry night vision. This symptom can be from other conditions as well, but astigmatism is one of the top causes. It all can depend on the size of the pupil The large and more dilated the pupil is, the more peripheral light rays can be unfocused due to astigmatism.

Oh my gosh this explains so much, I have astigmatism and I’ve noticed that at night everything is so blurry (already explained my current vision to my eye doctor). Thank you so much for making this informational video!

What great timing! I had cataract surgery a month ago and can already see so much better, but I was told I do also have an astigmatism and now I understand what it is and why it's worse at night! Thanks so much for another informative video!

I have self diagnosed myself with astigmatism after I finally decided to look up the reason why people see streaks of lights at night from cars, light poles etc… come to find out most people don’t see those rays of light and it’s a condition! One thing to note tho is your vision doesn’t have to be blurry for you to have astigmatism, I don’t have blurry vision but I do have the long streaks bending and stretching out.

You couldn't have explained this better. I have astigmatism which developed very recently after a comsmetic eyelid surgery. And at night is terrible

I've gone to the same doctor for 20 years now, and some years they say they think I have a slight astigmatism, other years they don't. So I don't know, lol. I think I'm just so myopic, everything is a bit blurry, even with correction. Man, I can't wait to get cataracts!

So I've already been diagnosed with Astigmatism and I noticed a weird thing about it so I am wondering if I have something else. And your video made it even clearer to me that what I'm noticing exists.

Using that dial test the horizontal lines are the dark ones that are very clear and the horizontal ones are blurry. But at say book distance away, on my phone, the vertical lines are the ones that are dark and sharp but the horizontal lines are the ones that are blurry. Which has me wondering why am I seeing this as it makes no sense if it's the shape of my eye I would expect the bluer to be the same direction no matter the distance. What might cause that?

Also am wondering about my glasses prescription as perhaps it's the thing that is making my eyes so tired during the day as I'm much closer and looking at a computer all day. But the prescription was set for the distance based upon a chart. That and pretty much all of my vision issue is in the cylinder as the sphere is either around .25+/- or plano. What might be causing this as perhaps I'm misdiagnosed? I've asked my eye dr about it but he says he doesn't know why.

Me, engineering mind, has me really puzzled as to what is going on here as it makes no sense. It makes me wonder if my vision issue is somewhere else in the system. What might I talk with my eye Dr to help make sense of this?

About a year ago i had cosmetic upper eyelid surgery (ptosis repair, upper blepharoplasty, canthopexy), before that i had absolutely perfect vision. Ever since the surgery i see blurry at night. I went to 3 different ophtalmologysts and told them "i see blurry at night after my eyelid surgery" they all dismissed me telling me "you are in your 40s so you are just getting old because of hyperopia and it has nothing to do with the surgery". But i knew this was not the answer. How could i just get old overnight after a surgery? Turns out i finally realized i have astigmatism -0, 75 on top of my hyperopia, which was caused after the surgery. And i read articles online that prove that astigmatism can be caused by upper eyelid surgery, so there is no doubt in my mind. now. The way you explain this video is exactly what happens to me. Maybe 0.75 is not a lot but for me, who never had anything, it feels like a lot.

I just realized recently that I have this. But I have really good vision (day and night), and when I get halos and streaks, I just focus where I want to see (best way I can explain it), and it goes away.

If I have astigmatism how inaccurate will my vision be with glasses that don’t correct astigmatism? When I compare my glasses that correct astigmatism vs my glasses that don’t, things seem different sizes and shapes. Things appear more smooth and appealing without the astigmatism correction. Everything looks dark and too harsh with astigmatism correction. Also if I turn my head just a little whatever I’m looking at bends.

As a FedEx Driver with really bad astigmatism that my glasses/contact don’t really help with it makes my job so difficult when I’m driving at night!

What are your recommendations for someone who still has issues seeing at night even with lenses? I have seen my eye doctor, but they just say it's a low grade astigmatism (1.00 vs 6.00). Is it common for lights to still look like stars at night even with glasses? Glasses make it a bit better but I sort of expected the scattering to go away completely when wearing glasses at night, given how low my prescription is. I am just curious because so far my doctor hasn't suggested specialized testing but I am still having vision issues at night due to light scattering.

I see everything doubled. I first noticed it only on very fine text on the screen but it's gotten progressively worse. Glasses fix it. I see things nice and sharp at a distance (only close stuff is actually blurred which is just age-related normal stuff) but yea everything is slightly doubled-up whether close or far.

I see double vision after ICL surgery, closing my right eye I see the shadow on the left side, closing my left eye I see a shadow on the right side of any bright object especially in low light or Indoor lighting conditions.
