Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - Falcon enters Hyperspace

After Luke is brought on board the Falcon some TIE fighters chase them. R2-D2 reactivates the Falcon's hyperdrive, allowing them to escape just before they are captured.

I like the idea that Chewie was so busy digging around inside the hyperdrive trying to find the non-existent problem it never occurred to him to check if it was turned on.

The "YOU DID IT" moment in the Theater in 1980 was unreal, the way the crowd ROARED at that scene. You had to be there, no one cheers in theaters like that anymore.

Love this quote from a write up someone did when they ranked Empire has the number one Star Wars movie: "Every other Star Wars builds up to some explosive final confrontation — or, in most cases, one big explosion. The best Star Wars movie is much too clever for that. The scene of R2-D2 reactivating the hyperdrive is nothing short of excellent. The build up to it with Darth Vader asking Admiral Piett's if his men deactivated the hyperdrive to the scene of Piett's reaction when Millennium Falcon escapes is phenomenal. Darh Vader's reaction, or lack therof, is perfect as well. If there is any scene in all of the Star Wars movies that shows what a vital character R2-D2 was, I have yet to see it. Earlier in the movie C3P0 shouts "AHHH! Where is R2 when I need him!". Thankfully R2 was there when he was needed!

After more than 40 years, these special effects are still the cutting edge. Vader knew there was no way in hell they could catch the Falcon after she jumped.

just a theory: the fact that Vader didnt choke Admiral Piett after Falcon escapes even tho Piett assured that the Hyperdrive was deactivated is probably Vader slowly regaining humanity after his first interaction with Luke.

Notice how throughout Empire Strikes Back he was choking Commanders to death left and right for lesser reasons but after this he kinda stopped. ?
