The Walkers in Star Wars are some of the most impressive effects in the franchise

The Empire Strikes Back is a masterpiece, and I'm convinced there will never be a better Star Wars movie.

It kinda creeped me out as a kid seeing those Walkers at a distance on the horizon.

That's how you do a reveal of a gigantic, powerful enemy. Keep the exact size unclear at first but hint at it with the sound, have the scale established slowly, then demonstrate what they can do. Don't have someone say "they're gigantic!" or "they're powerful enough to tear clean through our lines!" but show them doing it.

POV: You're a colonial defender on Vandalon IV under attack by automatons and the Helldivers have yet to arrive.

Child me: "Those are so cool."
Adult me: "A real military vehicle would probably try to present a much smaller target profile and put the main weapons on the high point of the vehicle so it can fire faster when it crosses the top of a hill. ...But they are still *SO COOL!!!"*

This was the best battle scene of this movie! The walkers are very effective with “psych op”intimidation factor. Very similar to Hannibal’s use of War Elephants or modern day use of tanks.

The grainy camera footage of the giant foot was such a scary scene for me as a child.

One of the best scenes in any Star Wars movie or series. Still gives me chills.

1:29 General Veers not even phased by 2 speeding Snowspeeders heading straight for his cockpit

I love that shot of them from the front, with thin legs holding up blocky bodies, and that slight sway from side to side as they march onward

I like that low-level shot of the Walker's foot hitting the ground. No joke, it reminds me of the stop motion in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

My absolute favorite part of the empire. Introduced to it in galactic battlegrounds and i never stopped spamming them with their massive firepower.

Those things always creeped me out. And the toys were pieces of junk. My friends had a few but they wouldn’t stay standing

I love how it shows these gigantic monstrous machines of war and contrasts it with a nice moment of levity with R2D2

Move has good vfx for the time since CGI was still in it's infancy (yes, CGI did exist in the 80s, but the first use was in a 1958 movie called Vertigo in the opening, but it was prints, not models)
