I tried a variation on this method, which is brilliant! Don't get me wrong. I use this style all the time, but I began to think about how to maximize the caffeine content, so I roughly ground a top notch coffee bean, pleced the grind in a tall mason jar or equivalent and then added near boiling water to the 3/4 mark. I then capped it off. A vacuum formed, which sealed it. After a week I strained off the coffee. WOW!!!! What a blast!!! Woo hoo. Felt like when I used to do a few lines, which I don't anymore. I gave that up 20 years ago, but this reminded me of it!!! To maximize the caffeine content you need to steep the grounds in hot water.

Usually I just use a water bottle, I mix the grinded coffee and the water creating an infusion leave it on the fridge for 12 hs then pass it through a paper filter

hi im curious, some people let the coffee brew overnight in the fridge instead of in room temprature. i'm confused on this part. could u kindly explain to me which is actually the best way to do it?

I like the 24 hrs in room temp, then I place it in the fridge for 3 days. It is now ready to drink, no filtering needed, all sediment settle at the bottom. Use a large jar with a tap, sediments stay at the bottom, easy.

I've definitely found that the ratio that I use in my French press for cold brew is 1:7. I also mostly use dark roasts but I get a free lb of coffee from Starbucks since I'm a barista there and I'm working my way from darkest to lightest

i think you forgot this important detail : some part of water will get absorbed to the coffee ground when you filter it as finished product. for example, you put 750ml of water with 1:15 ratio, the finished product is NOT 750ml. this small detail is important in packaging especially when you want to sell cold brew in a bottle. you would want to count the weight with exact number.

Interesting that you suggest light or medium roast. Thats my everyday roast choice. But since cold brew kills the acidity I like dark roast for cold brew as it lets in more of the dark roast coffee flavour.

7:42, this is why I used a old cooler-box/ice-box for my first dripper.
Now I have a dripper from Timemore that fits in my fridge.

I also have extraction brewers [from YRP and recently ordererd 2 from MHW-3Bomber]
{Originally used Jars for Frankfurter sausages, as these could hold about 800ML}

In a world of complex brewing methods, Thanks a lot validating my way of brewing cold brew. I used to used steep coffee grounds in a mason jar, and filter when needed in a V60.

(Ginger ale & cold brew was my personal best)

How is the concentrate more expensive if youre gonna dilute it to the same ratio as the ready to drink?

Beautiful 👏👍

I'm going to grab 80g single origin out of the freezer, my 1ltr Hario, and some bottled water. Leave it overnight, then whack it through the aeropress to get a super clean end product ☕️👌

Cheers guys.

cold brew is perfect. chocolate notes with zero sugar

If sugar is going to be added to cold-brew coffee anyway, we're better off adding it to the water before the ground coffee. The sticky sugar will "pull out" more from the beans than the cold water on its own. There will be a big difference in flavor.

What about if youre just using regular grocery store coffee grounds that you cant customize....
How does coffee ground too fine vs too course vs just right affect the coffee

just a warning to those that make concentrate. um make SURE you dilute it or you will be making multiple trips to the bathroom...

Is there any value to an electric cold brew maker like the Vinci? Or would it not taste good?
