Hey yall, i tried this and got the water to about 45 degrees. I lasted a minute. It was crazy. 5 minutes to me sounds more like a long term goal.

10 minutes is the golden standard for ice bath. More time won’t necessarily reap you more benefits but can definitely make your willpower stronger.

Andrew Huberman was saying 11 minutes per week to see benefits. So starting with 1.5min/day is good.

Wim says 11 minutes is the maximum length you need to stay in as far as being beneficial.... Move around in there don't just sit still break that thermal sheath

Don't try to do 10+ minutes until you've been at it consistently for at least a month. 3-5 minutes is the optimum for many of the benefits. When starting out, if your body starts shivering uncontrollably, set a timer for 1 minute and then get out. That's your body telling you it's struggling to keep your core temps warm.

Yes very healthy to activate cold shock response and the diving response at the same time… can give heart stroke to people who have little experience with cold exposure. If you’re NOT experienced, don’t step in a ice bath and dive under people. It can be very dangerous and for your heart its like stepping on the gas and on the brakes at the same time.

I take an icebath every day. 2-3 minutes. 5 minutes is very long if you ask me.

I do 10 minutes mostly 2 x daily. First thing in the morning with my cuppa coffee and the last thing I do before I get into bed but sometimes I’m old for seven minutes and the most I’ve ever done is 17. The water is always below 40 degrees. Usually around 35 when entering and my body temp heats it up about 5 degrees. It’s a 6’ tank and I have access to an industrial ice machine very very close to home. Going to install a water chiller though so it won’t warm up and eliminate the need to drag coolers of ice around

12 minutes weekly as cold as you can safely handle, 15 minutes in one session is nonsense
