This man is so good at manipulation, he devised an entire plan to manipulate an alternate version of himself that didn't even exist yet. Bro really used himself as a pawn on the chess board so that he would eventually have the Death Note returned to him. That's wild. Imagine being so smart that you literally outsmart yourself 😂

I also love the Manga's point of Light having Rem follow a "disgusting" (morally speaking) person like Higuchi around all the time.
This was done to influence her start to thinking Light wasn't so bad "in comparison", softening up for her decision to suicide kill with L. Giving her some level of trust to "leave things to Light" - since, as Misa is the most important to her, she would consider Misa's conditions after she suicides with L - and that would be Misa staying with Light.

When light said "they'll come a time when I benefit from this" after doing the circle ownership of the first death note (in this case, Misa's notebook and original owner rem) because I suppose since inadvertently she forgot Ls name, she needed to redo the eye deal with ryuk as her shinigami and not rem. A pretty cool indirect plan B for light incase misa forgot. And as for his original notebook, owned by ryuk then passed on to rem for higuchi to use, when light got it back, rem would have to stay with him and the police force instead of ryuk. So that way, rem wouldnt force herself to warn misa about redoing the eye deal or tell misa to kill L instead of rem doing it herself

This scene confuses so many, so let me explain for you.

Light needed Misa to have her Eyes again so he could judge more people and have more options when the time to kill L arrives. He thought his options through carefully and realised he could use Rem to kill L if he put Misa's life in danger. However, this provides another problem as he needed Misa to have the eyes for later, so he had the Shinigami swap ownership of the notebooks. This way, Misa could make the eye deal with Ryuk instead of Rem, allowing for Rem to suicide kill L without Light loosing access to free Shinigami Eyes.

Light also needed to regain his memories to kill the new Kira, so having the Notebook connected to those memories be the one he was chasing was even more beneficial to him.

This Scene alone just proves Light’s intelligence. Having them switch owner ships of the books is outrageous. Having Rem take Ryuk book, as Ryuk taking Rem book, just for Light to get his original book back, while Misa gets hers back. Ugh damn he so smart 😭

When light said "Just as I planned". I was like wtf. Light is smarter than L. Then L predicted this whole scenario and told it to Light that this is what you did which is on point deduction. And at that moment I lost it. 💀
